Mr. Nic aola says that when he arrived at the scene of the disaster there were about a hundred Indians congregated on an adjacent hill M,ound a bonfire. We have received intelligence that confirms the report of the capture of a freight train on the Union Pacific Bail* road last Saturday morning. Instead of being at Orand Island, however, it was a mile or two West of Alkali Station. The Indians effected the capture of the train by cutting the ties In the centre and thus spreading the r4iis,.8o'that, when it came along about 2 o'clock in the mortfTg of the day stated, it was piled ap together and inade a perfect Wreck. In the disaster the fireman was killed, he being jammed in between the locomotive and the tender, where for thrive hours he suffered the horrible tortarft of scalding, When death came to his relief. All the mdh of of the train fled when the disaster ocurred, to escape from the Indians, but the engineer, who remained with his fireman and did everything in: iiis powerto release the poor fellow from hit horrible situation. But his unaided effort could accomplish nothing. While eufiering these tortures the fireman begged of the engineer to kill him, but the latter coolt} not find it in his heart to take a human life.
