have

both taken the stump, in person, and have been "swinging aruund the circle,' appealing to the people, and rallying their "folorn hope." Their friends al! over the country are more active, noisy and desperate than ever. There is work for us to do to defeat them—hard work, brave work, determwed work. There is no use disguising this fact, and every man who wants "to soe GRANT elected and the peace of the nation secured upon the basis of liberty, loyalty and the permanent unity and prosperitj of the nation in tho future, should feel that he never had a more sacred or important duty to perform than he will have to-morrow, in voting for the Republican candidates.

It would be a sad day for the Republic and its best interests, if the "Democratic" part composed largely of copperheads and rebels, headed by SEYMOOR, the demagogue, and BLAIR, tbe rowdy, should succeed to power in the Government.— The evils that would flow from such an event cannot be contemplated by a true patriot without shudder. The rebels wh6m we defeated in a five years' war would then, virtually become the ruiing power of the land. They would do their utmost to saddle upon the Government the rebel debt, to reestablish slavery, to drive all loyal'tnea from ihe-South, and to establish a ruie of terrorism all over the country. f4

God forbid that we snouia come to this, after the immense saorifices we Jbave made, in blood, treasure and endurance?, to preserve the Union and the Govern ment against the attempt "of this same "Democratic" party to overthrow the Republic and establish in the South a slaveholding tyranoy.

In the name of every oonsideration of patriotism and good citizenship—in the name of American manhood—in tbe name of humanity and progressive civilization,' we appeal to our readers to devote as much of their time and influence as tbey possibly can, between now arid the closing of the polls to-morrow, to tbe tid vancement and security of the cause of GKANT Liberty and Peace. Seo your neighbors—reason earnestly with them. Have all needful arrangements made for bringing out all the voters, and to insure a full Republican vote. Let not one man stay away from the polls. Vote yourself and see to it that every other GRANT man in your district does the same.

Letus nehieve an overwhelming vlcto ry this time Let us give GRANT an'd COLFAX SO magnificent ana stupendous majority as will forever henceforth ei lenco tbe pretensions of ali rebels, and'the assumptions of all the friends of the reb« els,,'

World

The Rapuolicans will see by this tbat the Democrats have not abandoned the field. It was only a ruse. The election is to be hotly contested, and every friend of peace should work the more diligently, for GRANT and COLFAX. Let every voter act ss if the contest depended on hie action and his vote, and work unremittingly until to morrow night, and thus insure an enduring victory.

A FEW days before the State electionjn West Virginia, the following paragraph appeared in an exchange: "A Republican, residing in Marshall county, West Virginia, fell in a day or two trace with one of his neighbors, !a life-long Democrat. As the latter approached, he shouted 'Hurrah for Grant.' •O, you are joking,' said tbe Republican. 'No, I'm in dead earnest,' was the reply. 'Why, what's the matter?' 'Well, the fact is,' said tbe old Democrat, 'I can't stand the load these fellows are trying to make us carry. I am going for Grant4"

The result of the election there warrants the belief that this incident actually oc» curred, and that many thousands of similar revolts from the Democratic "load" have taken place.' 5

I CALL UPON YOU, as American citizens —I lay to you that "the path of duty is the path of safety. Stand by the party that put down the rebellion stand by the party that abolished slavery staid by the party tbat will reconstruct the Southern States upon conditions of equjkl and exact justice to all men stand by the great Reader, General GRANT—the great captain of the age, the hero a&d patriot—stand by him, and then his great prayer wjil be answered—"Let as have peace."—OLIVER P. IT is said that the proprietors of the celebrated PLANTATION BITTERS rent no lass than nine pews from the different denominations in New York city for all those of their employees wbo will occupy them regularly, free of charge. This is certainly praiseworthy, and it is to be hoped that others who employ .a large number of people, will follow tbe exam pie. The above fact, accompanied with the belief that a firm who would look so closely after the morals and welfare of their employes, would not undertake to impose upon the public, has induced us to give the PLANTATION BITTERS a trial and having found them to be all that is represented, we cordiallv recommend them as a tonic-of rare merit.—Observer,
