Aa bold as brass—^The present Blair.

A Whisky rebellion—Blair's reception infuturo.

As dead as a herring—Tha old Demo« cratic party. Five hundred guests at Congress Hall, Saratoga.

A dealer in Faneuil Hall market sells six hundred frogs per week.

One-half of the land under cultivation in Utah is sown in wheat.

The pen of the tongue should be dipped in the ink of the heart. The opera house building in F.lmira is being frescoed.

Victoria's grandson, the eldest son of the Qrown Princo of Prussia, speaks English as fluently as German.

When may a dog be said to encourage humorists? When he keeps a waggin' bis tail.

Blair's rhetoric (spurious edition)—The letter of the Democratic candiate for Vice President in favor of revolution.

A Salmon tiout recently captured in Okego Lake, weighed eighteen pounds and was two feet ten inches in length'_

A man named Joseph Labelledied suddenly the other morning at Montreal, after having drank eight glasses of whisky.

Cincinnati is worth, in her own right, ten million dollars, her possessions principally consisting of real estate.

A Mr. Wilmot, of Vinton County, Ohio, eighty-four years of age, recently cut an entire new set of teeth.

A horse and his rider were both killed by lightning duri ng a storm in Yorkshire, England.

The death of a young man from inhaling carbonic acid gas, to cure a toothache, is mentioned in the English papers.

As cold as charity—The reception which the nomination of Seymour and Blair meets with at the hands of tho Democratic masses.

The character of Charlotte d'Eatrelles, the beautiful leopardess of Feuillet's "Camore," is said to have been drawn from a well-known countess in Paris, formerly the mistress of a Russian prince.

One of the literary beliefs of tho modern school of French critics is that, no one but a Parisian can write a thoroughly artistic and interesting novel.

A French vivandiere named Jeanne Aanchel who went through all the battles of the Republic, the empire, and the revolution, died lately Paris. She was 88 yeaas old.

The Memphis Avalanche says: "The snow^bail, as it descends the mountain, increases in bulk and nomentum, until it becomes a vast, irresistible body. So it is with Democraoy." It is very pleasant to think of a gigantic snow-ball this hot weather, and we thank the Memphis paper for likening Democracy thereto. A gigantic snowball rolling down bill. We doubt if it increases in bulk, but the momentum is certainly growing very great.

The Coy Seymonr

In a Democratic speech at LaFayettP, as reported in the Courier, of that city, a returned and overturned Pendletonian gives the following account ofthe enthusiasm over the nomination of Seymour

Allow me to say that Democracy is looking up. [Voice in the crowd—"It's flat on its back and can't look any other way] The nomination of Seymour was a happy termination to the arduous labors ofthe Convention—aad considered in the light of all the circumstances, will strengthen our faith in the sublime doctrines of predestination. I am free to say that Indiana was not altogether happy in the nomination. We had other hopes and aspirations in behalf of one of Indiana's favorite sons, but we let that pass. We were badly sold out. The bonds were t®o much for the greenbacks, I stood on the steps of Tammany Hall when the result was announced, and saw old coupon unfurl a banner to the breeee, upon which was Inscribed, in very healthy, pot bellied letters, "For President of the "United States, Horatio Seymour." I noticed that the paint like our delegation, was very dry. That banner, I doubt not, had been painted for a month. I thought of the coy and blushing Horatio, and his gay fliration with the Convention. How, "vowing he would ne'er consent, consentled,"

FOOIB.

From tbe New York Citizen, (Democratic.) "Though you bray a fool in a mortar „,s felly will not depart from him.' We have not only brayed them in mortars, but in rifled cannon and fifteen inch guns and in many other curiom and unpleasly effective instruments, and still their folly seems to bo altogether their most prominent quality. At Yicksburgh and ,?ort St, Philip we brayed them with our mortars, at Fort Pulaski we devoted oar rifled ordnance to their service, at Savannah we turned our flftuen-inch guns to their improvement, and at Richmond we gave them the finishing touch with whatever we had at commaud: and yet they come back to us—what is left of them— as fresh in their folly as ever. In fact the process seems -only to have brought the disease to the surface, and they are blooming all over "with folly spots, as well soaked topers do with gin blossoms. One of them helps along the election of Seymour and Blair by announcing that it would result in the salvation of the "Lost Cause." Another repudiates the plank ofthe Democratic platform which announces as the settled conviction of North and South alike—of Union and rebel soldiers—that secession is dead and they all proclaim that the election of Seymour and Blair is to be the vindication, and possibly the rerewal of the rebellion.

This is bad enough but worse remains to be told. It is ann uced that rebel Generals and Congressmen, soldiers with hnnds red with the blood of our fellow Northerners, and politicians fresh from plotting the destruction of the Union are to stump the North against Grant and Cslfax. \Ve have all we can do to win this election at best—save us from this assistance or we are lost. Let them carry their own States that employment will occupy their full time and require more abilities than they have as jet shown in the canvass. If they can draw over the negro vote on a lair basis, such as qualified suffrage, let them do so. Wo do not care to have Buckner's opinion that Grant is no General. Questions of this kind are pretty well settled in our view and are not involved in the present election. Ifthey were, and the Democrats took the Southern side, we should not be left with a corporal's guard on election day. Every rebel speech made at the

North—and rebels seem unable to make any but rebel speeches—will cost ut a hundred votes for every one it gains. The North desires re-unicn—reunion of hejirt as well as of territory—and when

the Southerner! bonactly daaire the came they can benefit themselves and their country by eaying so openly and distinctly. Right glad will the North be to hear it from the South—the birth-place of secession—as well as at our own doors

Spermatorrhea, Seiaal Debility aad Iapo* teacy, as the mult of self ahnse in youth, sexual eucesses in matnrer years, or other canses, and which oduce some of the follow' ing effects, as Nocturnal emissions, Blotohes, Debility, Dizziness, Dimness of Sight, Oonfusioa of Ideas, Evil Fortbodings, Aversion to Society of Females, Loss of Memory and Sexual Fowor, and rendering Marriage improper, are permanently enred.

The Doctor's opportunities In hospital and private practice aro unsnrpassed in St. Louis or any other city. The establlsnmont, library, laboratory and appointments are unrlvallod In tho West, un rivalled anywhere. The Writings or a Physician whose Bepntalion is Union-wide, should be (Forth Reading-.

Docroa VV'HITTIEB publishes a Medical Pamphlet relating to Yenereal Diseases and the disastrous and varied oonsequences ot self-abuse, that will bo sent to any address in a sealed envelope for two stamps. Tt contains full symptom lists that will enable those affected to determine tho nature of their compliiot and give a written statement of their casn that will answer almost as well for tbe purpose of troatmentas a person 1 Interview bnt where it is couxenient, tbe Doctor shonld bo consulted personally. Those hflvlug friends that may require advice, can supply them with this valuable work by sending their address, with stamp. Thus yon can assist the nnforiunato without their knowing thoir bonefactor. Certainly no subjoct is of more Importance than pnaity of blood and perfect manhood.

It is Holf-evident that a pliysiei.:n trho confines qimsel' exclusively to the study of acer cain class of dlsoasos nud treats thousands of canes evory year, must acquire greater skill in that specialty than one lu general practice.— Many puyeicians, recognizing this fact, introduce patiants to the Doctor after reading his Nodical Pamphlet.
