ALL INIBRESTED io the welfare of the Y. Jl. C. A. aro cordially invited to attend tho next rogular meeting to be held on Tuesday evening, April 14, at whioh time tho new Board of officers will be inaugurated and business of great importance presented for consideration. Let each one feel it a duty to be present and take part in tho oxercises.
OFFICES TO BE FILLED.—In this county at the coming October election the following officers aro to be elected: One State Senator, two Representative!, County Clerk, Treasurer, Sheriff, Sur* veyor Coroner, Real Estate Appraiser, und otte Assessor in each township. Besides^ the people will vote for a Common Pleas Judjjo. a Common Pleas Prosecutor, a Congressman, and a full tickct for State officers.
THH 'WEATHER, TEE MOON, AND THE FRUIT.—The cold nights of last week accompanied as they were by squalls of snow, feitr have endangered.the fruit crop very much. Many people have become entirely discouraged, but old fruit growers will not give up the crop, and insist that they never knew fruit to be killed in the light of the mcon. If the moon saves our l'ruit crop this year, we shali never cease to be thankful when we behold its light. We want more fruits this fall than the "fruits of victory."— We only wish our fruit crop was as certain as tho latter.
ABBESTED ASD COMMITTED.—William Rariden, who stole a couple of air guns, ralued at 5*160, from W. J. Swope, a couple of weeks since, ieft them at Hayward & Ryan's until train time, and when Swope went to recover them made a murderous attack on him with a drawn knife, was arrested at Anderson, east of Indianapolis, 011 Friday, and on an examination •Saturday evening, before Esq. Denehie, was committed to jail in default of giving bouds in the sum of $1,000. One of the guns was found in Raridan's possession, the other is in a pawn-broker's shop at Indianapolis.

TO-DAVS ADVERTISEMENTS
No effort 09 our part, will be spared to
make tho WEEKLY EXPRKSB a useful newspaper, a welcome visitor, and a faith
ful exponent of tho Republican Party.—
Aside from National affaire, tbe local pol Itics of the State' Congressional District
and County—in fact, every Township in
the County will receive all possible attention. The leading Republican speeches
of the campaign will be published and we shall continue our usual variety of tele-
graphs and home news, home and for
eign market', &c.
Our Low Rate
puts it in the power of
Grant Clubs and local committees to supply their townships and neighborhoods
with good Republican sentiments, at a tri
fling expense.
Arow ii the time to form public eentunent.
Good Republican documents should be put
in the hands of those undecided as to
whioh party to attach themselves. Few
votes are changed by the vast amount
time, money and talent expended just on
the eve of election. Republican newspa
pers should be sown broadcast. They are bettor than speeches, printed or oral, com
ing every week with sharp, brief, pointed
items, they are the small shot that tell.—
It is a steady agency tho work goes on
Contiguously, as the seed grows in the
ground. Democratic speakers and news-
paprrs are stripping for the field. Bad
soed will grow if the ground is not occu
pied by goocL
With this view, and that all possible
good may be accomplished by a wide
spread circulation, wo have put the price
of our campaign paper down to the
low
est rate at which it can be published without actual loss.
Will Township Executive Comraitteesj
and our Republican friends generally aid
us in this mattor Send in your orders
immediately, that the good work may be
commenced.
HOMELESS CHILDREN.—Mr. H. Friedgen, agent of the Children's Aid Society of New York, brought to this city last week a small party of fifteen children— mostly large boys. He found good homea for all but two. These he left at the Buntin House, and returned to New York Saturday afternoon. He finds the demand lot girls and small children, and will return about the 8th of May with a large party of suob, at which time the children may be seen at the Buntin House. The children are to be kept until of age, but are not to be Indentured, a mutual voluntary agreement having been proved by the experience of the Society to be the most practical and the best plan.
