Tas City Council h&B appointed a special committee to report how and when), a reduction of the price of fresh meats can be secured. This is a good move. We are not prepared to Bay that the butchers, are making too large profits, but we do know that tho prices of fresh meats are now so high as to put this article of food nearly out of the reach of many families It will certainly do no harm to in?e^ti

In tho New York Supreme Court, on Tuesday, a case was tried that ifcof intern est to druggists and those dealing with thorn. Robert J. Jordan and Peter B. The Other Side.—There never has b«en, and never will be a disturbance ot any kind without two sides to it—ejach party is always in the right—at least in his own estimation, and of course llere must be two or more versions of any difficulty. Mr. J. A. Scott,-the young man who sent three pistol balls whistling towards tbe body of Mr. Jonas Seelypnjthe train Tuesday—(a circulating medium that neither Mr. S. or the passengers in the car cared to take on deposit)—called on us yesterday morning to say-that our statement of the affair did him injustice. He states there was no woman in the case, but that Seely commenced abusing him on the train because be Imagined he (Scott) wa# "cutting" on hw-board.bill. Scott retorted with some harsh language, whereupon Soely p'ished him down and struck him, and he.then drew his pistol and fired three shots as before stated. We had our version from what we considered good authority, and now give our young
Mend the benefit of liis statement, with the friendly suggestion that a pistol a not a necessary article of wearing apparel, and if kept off the person will seldom lead tbe wearer into trouble, or into the newqm* per#.
