Our musical friends will be glad to learn that arrangements have been made with Professor Babus, of Cincinnati and his line orchostra, composed of twenty five first class performers, to be in attend ance at the Samgerfest in Richmond which is now set down to take place about the 20th of May, and continue three dayt Responses have already been received from invitations to such an extent as toloave no doubt that tho approaching fei tival will furnish the citizens of that place with the finost musical treat th«£ ever enjoyed.
The French Press BUI.
THE New York Sun thinks "it is a pity thut France, whose late rulers have claiined to be in advance of other continental nations in all ideas of liberty, should have put itself so far behind the slowest of them as tio lato Government Press bill has done." it will be remembered that on the day of the passage |of that bill M.J Leopold JavaTj endeavored*to -obtain "From the House some modification of the section retaining the power of inspection and suppression of foreign newspapers to the Minister of the interior, and to have them loft freo to come through the mail and be distributed. Many subscribers do not receive one out of lour sent to them, Austria and Russia have both given up, this oppressive system of discourtesy to foreign, residents, and Franco shonld be ashamed to continuo it. But she has done so. The bill passed complete, and the Emperor, whoso reign is peace, still finds it necessary to maintain a caution and eBpionge of a state of wan
"The Good Time Coming" The impeachment trial will be rostimfed to-day and there is overy reason why it should continue without further interruption to the end which, we confidently believe, will be tho removal of the. traitor, Andrew Johnson, from the position to which tho bolder but not more guijty traitor, J. Wilkes Booth, promoted hip. The lattor assassinated a President, th^ former has done all in his power to destroy the lifo of tho nation. The daknning crime of murdering the great aind good Lincoln, was a trivial offense compared with the attempt of Andrew Johnson to place the Government, bound ht^nd and foot, within the grasp and under (he power of perjured, conquered rebels.
Let tho good work go on to a speedy and righteous issue. Johnson deserves, at least, official death then "off with his (official) head." Let honest Ben Wade take the holm and guide the Ship of Stbte away from the shoal?, rocks and quicksands, among which tho traitor thre&tent to wreck her, into the calm deep sea and before tho steady breezo tf national prosperity. Let every patriot csay: "God speed tho happy day."

The somewhat mysterious words at the head of this article have been paraded through the press of the country for some time past in connection with a notable incidont of the'impeachment trial, fb Wit, the withdrawal of JeremiahS Black from the array of distinguished legal talent summoned to the aid of A. The Philadelphia Enquirer has a full and probably reliable version of the story which has connected tho name of the illustrious Jehkmiah with Alta Vola, and from this account we are inclined to believe what at first seemed fubulous, that Mr. Black de'clined to act as counsel for A.
