Triumphant I Read the following from well known citizens of Tjprre Haute, who witnessed the experiments with the "American Fire Extinguisher" on Wednesday eveniog, April 1st, near the Terre Haute -House."" —V
The undersigned attended the second trial of the "American Fire Extinguisher,1' near the Terre Haute House, on Wednesday night, and the following was •the result:
A large pile of tarred shavings, boxes, staves, and other materials was collected together on the vacant lot between Main atud Ohio streets, and at half-past 7 o'clock fire was applied to the combustibles and the same having burned about five minutes, the blaze ascended several feet above the top of the pile, Ata^iven signal, the water and gas from the "Extinguisher'' was let on to the burning mass, and in onehalf minute, by the watch, held by Mr. L. G. Hager, the fire was perfoctly and totally extinguished. A second and third trial was made, and with the same result.
No severe test could be applied, for no ordinary building will ever be found to contain so much combustible materials.
We have no hesitation in saying that this machine will extinguish any ordinafire when first discovered in a Room Store, Factory, Stable, Public Hall, Mill, or Hotel, and that its general use would be of the highest value to every proprietor of propef ^able to be destroyed by fire.
The "Extinguisher" is a portable machine, not Weighing over fifty pounds, and can be worked by a man, boy, or even a woman, and is of the simplest construction. We satisfied that itsgeneral use in our community would be the means of saving a vast amount of property destroyed annually, and could not fail to prove of the highest value in lessening to cost of ineurrafice. We can cordially recommend it to the public.
The macliineP| of three sizes can be purchased of Messrs. Lyne & Lawes, near the Terre Haute House.
