BA9E'BALL.—The -fbllowing from the New York Sun of the 9th inst., will in» tereat many of thr Jjase ball players in this vicinity. We hope the good exam-ple-may be followed iu oar own section of the country: "We ar# glad to 4earn that the disgraceful scenes often attending the champion games of base ball, are, at least in New England, not likely to be repeated this coming summer. The Association, of National Base JBall Players, embracing soveral fine' clubs in and about Boston, have vofed to abolish the system of match games, so far as making them a test of championship is concerned, and have united in discouraging any return to it. While the beautiful game was used as a spirited and athletic oiercise, it was an institution to bfc eherished as an excellent health-preserver, a trainer of bodily vigor, mental freshness and good nature. But so soon as it became a mere bas for batting and gambling it was deleterious to morals, pocketsiisnd health the excitement of drink took the place of healthful temperance hard feeling and ugly temper pushed good nature away business and trade were neglected, and base ball became a passion to be gratified like 'any other. It is well that some of the young men themselves have seen their danger, and nro drawing back.
