Mr. Cuqua was during the war leader of tho band of the 25th Indiana Regiment, an.l is a musician of superior ability. He has selected from our be.'t muscians a band of thirtoen member*, to which two or three morn will soon be added. During the ap proaching campaign they will make soma ringing music.

DANGEROUS COUNTERFEIT.—A dangerous counterfeit on the five dollar National Bank bills is extant, and is believed to be in extensive circulation. Those bills, are .veil executed—the "Luuding of Col urnbus' on the back, being particularly well engraved. The shapingof the letters on the face of the -bill is heavy, although fine. The principal point of difference between the genuine and counterfeit is this: In the counterfeit tbe "T:' in the sentence "This note secured." etc.,, at tho head of the bill comes over-the "n'^in "tJnited State?," while in the genuine it comes over the "upper left, corner," By this difference the counterfeit can be readily t. -detected. .**

SEVEN SEDUCTIONS AND A BUNAWAI.

Putnam county is not quite so staid, it would seem, as formerly and the outcroppings of sin are of late becoming painfully apparent in the strata of society in that heretofore sedate section of the commonwealth.

A Putnam county citizen has furnished us the particulars,: of the doings of an old viliaiu who has made his residence iri that county for the:past ten or gfteen years, and these"1 particulars develop a career of crime of such magnitude as We are seldom called upon, to record.— The name of the old sinner is Wiggins.

It seems that for the past few years the old reprobate in question has devoted himself exclusively, almost, to the business of seduction, using every artifice that a depraved heart could suggest to cohsum. giate hiw wicked purposes, and using them '^tily too succesfully. As improbable as it may se*m, our informant states it as nev. ertheless true, that within the past three months, it has, transpired that this old scoundrel'.' has' succeeded in jniining no less than seven young girls, whom are now mothers.

Among the victims of the lecherous old scalawag were two twin sisters—orphans to^oth of whom he Was engaged to he married? but upon both of whom he had imposed ^ha- .tooat-Solemn Obligations of secrecy
