Tho Italians at Florence are astonished at the severity of T-he winter there. A correspondent writes that the mails have been interrupted for two days. The railways are stopped by tbe snow. In Florence it has snowed as it only snows two or three times in a century. Men of forty had nevor seen anything like it. Nearly a foot of snow $alf the city remained within door. That Mr.
Tilton is annoyed at having a candidate whom he, like Wendell Phillips, has opposed and abased, we are aware. Let him come out boldly, then, and commence the fight in bis own camp. On the authority of a letter in the Chicago Tribune, by a graduate of We«t Point, it is claimed that the morals of that military institution have sadly degenerated of late. We do not think so. We have for years heard the same story as thattold by the correspondent of the Tribune. For at least a quarter of a century tho new-comera, called "pleba'' have been subjected to the same brutal vulgar and debasing treatment described by that graduate. They are treated in a manner so revolting, that did parentsTcnow it they would no more send a son there than they would send htm to any other pandemoni ium of demons. The new comers are handed over, by the managers of the institution to Que advanced class, and for month they are subjected to a degree of torture that should have long since either insured the reform, or the abolition of the institution'. The treatment' is unworthy of the most brutal, the most vulgar, and the most filthy of mankind.

Having commenced our second year at the Well known stand, "the Boston Store." we consider it both a duty and a pleasure to thank our customers for their past liberal patronage. It shall contiuue to be our aim to keep always on hand a choice assortment of goods suited to the wtnts of the community.
We have just completed an inventory of our stock and marked our goods at heir
