Amusing accounts of the manner in which the Prince of Wales spent Obrist» mas continue to

find their way

into the

English journals. It seems he was at Sandringham, and that on Christmas eve he was present at the distribution of beef to the laborers and others. One hundred and fiftytwo pieces of meat, weighing 887 pounds, were given to 152 families, repreeenting 885 heads. Each man made his obeisance to His Royal Highness, as they trotted off with their beef under their arms. Besides this 120 single men re* ceived half a crown each. We are also told that the children of Sandringham School prepared a very pretty carol, with which to awaken the Royal household to a knowledge that Christmas morn had once more arrived.

After taking thu candidate through a variety of ceremonies, he was brought to a stand before a screen and told that he had to confoss the crimes he had committed during his whole life. The candidate confessed some trivial offense, and declared that he could xeccollect no more.

At this the Judge came from the screen, groaned, and shook the chains. The frightened candidate related some other small matters, and declared he had disclosed all the crimes he had committed. At this the groans of tho pretended devil became furiouB, the chains rattled, and he shook his horns in the face of the terrified candidate, who, starting back in alarm, cried out: "H-hold on, M-msmister D-d-devil, if I m-must t-tell you, I d-did k-kiss J-Judge G-grass' wife a couple of times
