After terrible sufferings in the hospitals he recovered and in his painfully maimed condition, proceeded to the home of his family at Union H111, New Jersey. Being unable to procure a livelihood for those dependent upon him, wife and three small children, he was advised by some iriends to procure a hand-organ and .adopt his present mode of business. He md so, ana we are plekted to learn has been BP* generously received by th» public. Hia ambition is to secure a sufflcient amount to purchase a little farm for his fkmily. following interesting account of his life' and services: The armlese sailor and his little boy, who, for days past have attracted the attention of passers-by in front of the Postoffice, have a history at once romantic and interesting. The sailor's name is Bernard Tobey. Twenty-nine years-of his life had been passed at sea, serving in all capacaties from cabin boy to captain. He served on board a British man-of-war duriag the Crimeah War, passed through several of the most desperate naval engagements, and escaped uninjured.
