The afternoon hod be&i misty and cloudy, with just a tinge of moistufc* afo»t in the air, and a few of the most hopeful began to talk of rain, rhe pnident imiled in a sickly way, and shook wise heads.— But about seven the lightning brilliant, and the thunder grew solemn ari^T. grand. The fortnight has been fruitfuf of events. Joseph Coburn, Michael MfcCoole and hundreds of the humble disciples of those great men have been with .,^8 fpr a while, and are gone. The immediate occasion of the distinguished condescension which brought these noble gei|men from St. Louis and Cincinnati to our "|anpr etending hamlet, was a friendly to arrangement, between Mr. Duffey, .a fighting star of, perhaps the third magnitude, and Mr. Bussoy, an Irish gentleman of limited. income, who had sc muscle, but no professional skill.

Duffey consented to fight for the pure eq joyableness of the thing. Mr. Buerej^, doubting the enjoyableness, desired motley. The dailies volunteered unlimited editorial assistance, and for a week\oi more, rogaled us with a rehash of all tht wise and witty cogitations of the bruised crowd. The proprietor of the Matteso^ House permitted his hospitality to becomk the social center, and an hour or two- feejfbru the fight came off, the vigilant polic^ authorities telegraphed the Governor .of Indiana that there

There was a general muster at the Opera House on Friday evening ordered by General George Francis Train, the Union champion in England, the Fenian cham pion in America, the woman's champion in Kansas, if we adhere to the authentic posters. The drilling began at half-past seven, and went on until half-past ten, when it became a bore, and was broken off. Report of the Judiciary Committee— the Keasare^Hft

The charge made, and towhich the investigation of the committee has been especlall direqted- aro usurpation of power and violation of law, in tne corrupt abuse of the appointing, pardoning and veto poW ers, in' the corrupt interference in electtions^ and generally in the commission of acts,1amounting W high crimes and misdemeanors uiiaer the' Censtitntion, and upon the recital it was charged with the more general duty of inquiry into the cal conduct of the President of the Uni States, and of reporting whether he had been guilty of any acts, which were d» signed calculated to'overthrow, subvert or corrupt the Government of the United States, or which in contemplation of tbje Constitution would constitute a higbcrime or misdemeanor, requiring the interpos|tion ofsthe Constitutional power of the House. It will be observed that thia great salient point of accusation, standing (MitlaD the foreground and challenging the attention of the country, is the usurped tion of power, which involves of cours^ a violaton of law, and here it may be remarked that perhaps every great abuse, every flagrant departure from the well settled principles of the Governtnent haVe been brogbt home to its present adminis tration, whether discovering itself in a special inbaoticm of the statutes^r in the profligate use of tbe high powers conferred by the .Cqnsjtitijtion on the President, or revealing itself here manifestly in tbe systematic attempt to seize upon its authority, and disparage and supersede the great Council to which that sovereignty has been intrusted, in reference .to the one great purpose off the reconstruction of the shattered Governments oi the rebel States^ in accordance with his own wishes, in the interest of the great criminals who car* ried them into the rebellion, and fn such away as to deprive the people of the loyal States of all chances of indemnity for the past and security for the future, by pardoning their officers and restoring their lands, and bringing ^iem b&ck to their hearths, unrepentant," and their hands yet red with the blood of our peo* plo, into a condition where' they could once more embarrass and defy, if not absolutely, rule the Government, which they •had vainl^ .andeavoredlto destroy. It is atfound this point, and as auxiliary to that great central idea, that all the special «oU.of-ualadmin«etnitiott-'~we h*ve witnessed will be found to gravitate and re« volve, and it is to this point, therefore, as thajgreat master key which unlocks and in* terprets all of them that the attention of the House will first be directed.

The report then goes into a recital of events since the inauguration of President Jobnson, and concludes as follows^ In accordance with the testimony herewith submitted and the view of the law herein sen ted, the Committee are of opinion that Andrew Johnson, President of tha United States, is guilty of high Crimea and misdemeanors, requiring the interposition of the constitutional powers of this House. In that he did within and for tbe States recently in rebellion, create and establish as a civil officer the office of Provisional Governor, and created an office unknolwii to the Constitution or laws of the lfcndJ"

In that he appointed,, ty said, graces created in said States) rbspactivrf^,i niea who were public and notorious traitors, he well knowing tbitt they had been'engaged in open, persistent and formidablejeft forts for the overthrow.of the Government of the United States, and well knowing also, that these men cou)4 .not enter upon the duties of said oftce without commit* ing the crime of perjury, in manifest v!io» latiun of the laws of the country.

The great interest felt here in the second advent.in America and Boston of Mr. Charles Didkfens, and the promised readftjgs by hSmielf-'iyf his OWH popular and world*wide, writings, was displayed in no slight degree yesterday, when the sale of tickets to the readings took place, at the store of Messrs. Ticknor & Fields. From in the frosty morning jo some time alter dark the store was filled with people anxious to 'secure tickets, and the doorway was-constantly besieged by a throng which extended, some portions of the day, in a line averaging three or four deep arbund the corner ofHamiltoii place, »nd along the' sidewalks in the place, back to the further t,corner of Tr^i4ipnt street. It had been previously announced in the newspaper advertisement that the sale'tfouM1 "open' tit,'and not before 9 o'clock in the.forenoon, but quite a crowd gathered around-the store as early as 6:30 o'clock, evidently, in their appreciation of the fame of Mr. Dickens, understanding the force of the proverb concerning the patching, ofthe worm by ,the oarlv bird. 4-t 7:2iQ o'clock over Beventy-five patient Waiters were counted, and by 9 o'clock some two hundred more.' The -clerks ^penedttb^ store .spon after 7 o'clock and admitted those in waiting, but finding that the crowd. Was larger tban 'the store ?oujdr, iSf^ily accommodate, closed the doors and procured policemen to guard themi The fortunate ones admitted passed the time which1 intervened between their entrance and the opening of the sale in a most agreeable and comfortable fanner, and occasioned considerable jealousy and envy on the part of those without, whose blue noses and generally pinched looks disclosed the mild torture they were undergoing in the raw and chilly air of the morning.

But the crowd out in the cold was a most patient, orderly and gentlemanly crowd, and seemed determined to be jo 1 and good-natured under any circumstances. And it was situated in a place where jollity was a virtue—wherein Mark Tap ley even might find it a pleasant task to be jolly. The windswept around the corner of Hamilton-place incessantly and remorselessly, and worked its way through the tlllckestlioats'and the warmest shawls to the very vitals of those they attempted to comfort apd protect. But there wps no complaint jokes were cracked, some very good and some very poor quotations from Dickens were made, some apt and others, forcedand snatches of songs were sungj tbemost popular of which was "Wo Won't go Home till Morning"—which at one time it seemed likely that some would not. And the crowd was gallant, too, as the following incjdent will show: Among the earliest comers were two heroic ladies one of them having waited three hours for an opportunity to procure her ticket, was, by a common impulse of generosity, allowed to take a position in advance of gfetttlexheh who had come before her, the matter being1 jpbt to vote and unanimously deputedJn. thftHaffirmative. The fact that some people w«fe eight hours purchasing tickets—five out in the cold and three in the store—shows the persistency of the woiild-be ticket-purchasers. There were many who waited six hours, and very many four hours, before the dearly-won cards of admission were procured. And there were quite a number, too, who, after almost freezing in the line three or four hours, retreated in despair without obtaining that for Which they had suffered.

Everything in the sale of tickets within the .store seemed to be conducted with entire fairness. The limit was set at forty eight tickets to one person—twelve course tickets—so aii to prevent, as much as possible, ticket-speculating. But this was not entirely? {avoided. Speculators were on the streets and in tbe hotels selling tickets readily for $10 and $15 each for the opening night, and a few as high as $20iach. Tiokets for the remaining three nights were also sold by speculators at high prices. At about 7 30 o'clock last evening every good seat and nearly every poor seat in tbe hall were sold indeed, the only seats that could be thought were those On Dendhes in very unpleasant places. 'Gentlemen coming down town in the morning and seeing from a distance the crowd around the door of the store, the policemen and the barrod windows, supposed that afire had occured within tbe Store, and greatly doplored the catastrophe. The retail portion of the store was not open for business—other than the sale of tickets—during the entire day, and no one could obtain admittance, no matter how much he desired to "buy a book," as one individual insisted be did to the incredulous policeman^ and the waiting crowd. vniw
