HYDROPHOBIA IN IIBNDRICKS COUNTY.

—It will be remembered that some time ago thoro was no little excitement created in riainfluid by the appearance of a mad dog also tkat several persons were bittenOne of tho victims, a eon of Eli Hodson, living at Springtown, went stark mad within fifty-two days, and died on Wednesday night last. It was a pure case of hydrophobia, and was so decided by all the physicians that saw him. He exhibited all tho symptoms, such as frothing at the mouth, tongue spotted, lolling out and terribly swollen. 5

THE WEATHKR^-P-It is decidedly cool now-a-days, and we don't know of anything half so eorofortabje. and agreeable, as has been tbe atmosphere for more than a week past One can sleep now without rolling and tumbling about for hours, in vain attempts to find a cool spot. In fact it is a trifle too cool for the amount of clothing one has been accustomed to cover with. Getting up refreshed, and with mind and body rested, is one of the comforts of this kind of weather, and is very much different from crawliug out of Ted, tired,-weary and anything but invigorated. The feather clerk, we are half inclined to believe, is something of a kind, congenial after all. "We certainly think more of him now than circumstances would have warranted about the 4th of July. We aro much opposed to the present order of things. With a good rain, however, we should be better pleased with the situation.

ADVANTAGE OF STEEL ARMOB.—In Bloomington last Monday as a lady was passing along the street, she was startled by tho cry of "mad dog," afi a crowd of mon camo rushing around an adjacont corner in pursuit of a foaming cur. The lady shrieked and faintod, as the dog with a half-subdued growl fastened his teoth in her drapery, and then rushed in* to a convenient alloy, where he was quickly dispatched. Tho lady, in the meantime, had been- taken into an adjacent houso, restoratives applied, and when consciousness returned, she discovered no fooling of pain or unusual susceptibility in her liinbs whero she supposod tho dog had bitton her. On examination a steel spring in her hoop skirl, was found to be cut in two, and the prints of the sharp pointed teoth remained.

AOCIDENT AT A DISSECTION. —DR Kersey, well known to the profession here, held a post mortem examination of tho body of Matthew Hodson, the boy who died of hydrophobia, on Wednesday last in Hendricks county, noticed elsewhere. Just as the operation was about conclud ed, Dr. Carter, of this city, who was pres ont looking on, got hold of the medical knifo, and while sticking around the body without sense or caution, stuck the point of the instrument into Kersey's thumb pricking into tbe bone. The doctor very promptly sucked the blood from the wound, and severely cauterized it, and then placed himself uniar the influence of whisky, remaining under its effects for nearly twenty hours. Yesterday he re covered his sobriety, and felt nothing more than the natural results of the liquor It is sincerely hoped that no serious evil will ensue from tho reprehensible carelesss noss of Dr. Carter.—Indianapolis Journal.
