The American Watch Company, of Waltham, Mass., respectfully snbmit that their Watches are cheaper, moro accurate, less complex, more durable, hotter adapted for general use, and moro easily kept in order and repaired than any other watches in tlio market. Thoy are simpler In structure, and therefore stronger and less likely to 1)0 injured than tho majority of foreign watches which aro compoBod of from 126 to1 3l0 pieces, while In an old Kngllsh watch there are more than 700 parts. As you are aware, we formorly trusted to those ot English manufacture, of acknowledged good reputation bnt as a class they never keep time as correctly, ner have they done as good service as yours. lu these statements I am sustained by my predecessor, Mr. Lewis, whose experience extended i.ver ii series of years.

A curious incident since in Schenectady, Y. A lady who has some property, and has been widely known as a handsome widow, after long living in single blessedness, yielded to tbe importunities 6f a lover, and consented to be led to the hymeneal altar. It was arranged that she should go in her carriage to the place where the ceremony was to come off, and there meet the expectant bridegroom. The lady stepped into the carriage, but was astounded by a gentleman stepping in after her, and declaring that he would go along and see her married. It was her husband, with whom tho had not lived for years, but who lukd.it seema, kept accurately posted in regard to her movements. It is unnecessary to say that the wedding did not come ofi^ and when the expectant bridegroom heard of the difficulty he vamosed in hot haste.

The White Pine Compound.

It was early in the spring of 18.r5 that tliiCompound was originated. A member of my fanii, ly was afflicted with an irritation of the throats attended with a disagreeable cough, I had for souie months previous thought that a preparation having for its basis theinsidebark of white pine might be so compounded as to be very useful in diseases of the throat and lungs. To test the value of It in the case alluded to, I compounded a small quantity of tlia medicine that 1 had been planning, and gnvo it on ful dosts. The result was exceedingly gratifying. Within two days the irritation of the throat was removed, tho cough subsided and a speedy cure was effected. Soou after this sent some to a lady in Londonderry, N. II., who had been suffering for some weeks from a bad cough, occasioned by a sudden cold, aud had raised muens streaked with blood. She soon found relieff and sent for moro. She took about ton ounces of it, and got well. J. B. Clarke. Kail editor of the Manchester Daily Mirror, made a trial of tho same preparation in the case ot a severe cold, and was cured immediately. He was so highly pleased with the results, and so confident in success attending its sales, if placed before the public, that ho Anally persuaded me to give it a name, andsend it abroad to benefit theeuOering. In November, 1856,1 first advertised nnder the name of White Pino Compound. In two years from that time there liaa been wholesaled iu Manchester alone One Ifundred Dollars worth, where it took the lead of all the congh remedies in the market, and it still maintains that position. Tlieio is good reasons for all this it is very soothing and healing in its nature, is warming to- the stomach, and pleasant withal to the taste, and is exceedingly cheap. "As

remedy for kidney complaiuis the White

Pine Compound stands uurivaled. It waa not originated for that purpose, but a person in lising it for a cough was not only cured or tlie cough, but was also cured of a kidney difficulty of ten years standing. Since that accidental discovery many thousands have nsed It for the same complaint, and have beeB completely cured."

The above was written by Dr. Poland, tn 18S0.— Since then, as in Manchester, the White Pine Compound lias taken the lead of all Cough Remedies, ai wWl as prtparatlons'for the cure of Kidney difficulties, in every city town, village and hamlet throughout the New England States.

This remedy is as sate and pleasant to take as It hefffectnai. The editor of tlia Manchester Daily and Weekly Mirror, In the leader of the Daily, thus writes of the Compound: "The White Pino Compound is advertised at much length in onr columns, and wa are happy to learn that the demand for it is increasing beyond all prevtons expectations It is the very beat medicine for coughs and colds we know of, and no family that has onre nsed it will ever be without it. We speak[from onr own knowledge it is sure to kill a cold, and pleasant as it is sure. The greatest Inventions come by accident, and It is singular that the White Pine Compound made for coughs and colds shonld (trove to be the greatest ramedy for kidney difficulties known.— But salt la. We cannot doubt it, so manv testimonials come to tis from well known men. Besides, the character of Dr. Poland is such that, we know that ha will not countenance what is Wrong. For years a Baptist clergyman, studying medicine to And remedies for his ailments, with a delicate, consumptive look, standing with one foot upon the grave, he made the discovery which has saved himself, aad caBed out from others the staengest.tetti-. ^.r.^1.1. possible. We have known Dr. Poland for years, aud never kaew a more conscientiona, honest, upright man, and are glad to state that we believe whatever he eaysabout his White Pine Compound.
