Tlie third "social" of the Young Mep's Christian Aesociution held at their pleasant rooms on Tuesday evening, wm emphatically a very agreeable occasion. The JBaacling Kooin was ewnfartably crowded by "the fair and the brave." Soon after eight o'clock the Chairman called tjie mctting to order and all united in An opening hymn, which was followed by a brief prayer. An interesting-programme was then announced, consisting of made and impromptu remarks by diffe?erft members of the Association. At least two of tb 0 speakers positive^ asserted that th^y were' '-greatly ^embarrassed,'' whereupon most cordial applause dismissed formality and restored the orators to their vlormal condition. Ominous sounds now proceeded from tho library room, and whispers wero busily circulated. Yery soon the head-waiter appeared, followed by an army of volunteer assistants, who Speedily supplied the good natured audience with bountiful portions of ice cream and cakes... due -discussion—of— the refreshment question a vote of thanks was madolo the ladles for their kind-contribu-tions and their agreeable presence during the. evening. A parting hymn was Sttng and the company dispersed*
We are glad to notice tlie interest a\* ready manifested for the success of this laudable effort, on the part of our voung men to,, popularize their work. The coopsration of the ladies is both encouraging and important and we trust that many additional bands and hearts will be enlisted to carry forward the objects of the Afsociation. Our citizens should now substantially aid tbk society, which heretofore hasjaolicited help from no one outside of its membership.

Tix JWxudixo.—Mr. and Mrs. J. C. Burnett celebrated their tin wedding Ihst night, at their residence on North Illinois street. A large party of their friends gathered, most of them bringing- with thenr.«ome memento constructed of .the metal pertinent to the occasion. Professor Athliek Smith's band furnished music for sorre excellent dancing, and with elegant retie*hments served up on tin platters the evening passed off agreeably to all. Wo extend our congratulations to the couple just entering upon the second decade of married life, and hope they may live to enjoy a silver commemoration of their happy union.—Jndianapoltf Jqurn-
