There is, next to the Berlin, restaurant, a handsome little alcDve, corniced in white and gilt, in the midst a pretty statue of "The iihine," and containing semicircular stui.ds, upon which are ranged)
THE RUSSIAN REST AURA-NT. Passing thence to the Russian restaurant thero is a marked contrast for tnere is studied plainness and Substantiality about the latter, which also illustrates the raco which it represents. It is a long, narrow room, plainly decorated, furnished wit large marble-top tables, and having a kitchen at the further end. You know that the French anl Germans, and other western nations, never have a restaurant and cafe in the same room. The restaurant, with these, is purely for eating, for taking otae's meals while the cafe is for taking one's after-dinner coffee, chocolate, or liquor, loajlng, smoking and reading the papers. The hussians unite the two, and their restaurant for dinners is also a calotor drinkers and loungers.
The waiters in the Russian restaurant are peculiarly dressed in frocks of red and

rtvu silk, belted At the middle, and wide pantaloons, as to what is eaten, there, "it would doubtless puzzle ti far move asiuto gourmand than myself to. tell you ut all events the food is plainer, and served with less sauce and spicing thnn that which is served in the French. German, Spanish or Italian departments. In he kitchen, which is directly on the promenade, ia a curiously dressed female cook, with a sort of coronet ol' mock pearls on her h?ad, from which bang ohains of various metals, while she was dressed in folds of silic and robes, very curiously worn. The Russian restaurant, though alwnyB full of nativo guests, is yery quiet, ana they seem a staid, quiet, sensible people, more grave and thoughtful than their European neighbors.
AN AMERICAN BAR ROOM.
The familiar Sight of an"Americau bar rooin willl be afforded te such of our countrymen as are familiar with the establishment at home. A large marblecovered bar Btands directly on the promensdo at the end of our section, and tho soda fountain which is attached more particularly strikes tho foreign visitors.— Here Hrrangenients are complete to furnish "sherry cubblcrs," gin cocktails/' "claret punches," "Torn and Jerrys,"-and so on
ad infinitum,
the drinks peculiar to
American manufacture,, and the proprietors are going into business withcharucteriKtic enterprise, as if they were bound to make "a good thing of it.
Kext and lastly come the English chop and steak houses," taverns, beer .saloons, wi,e "AUsopo's India Ale," blown stoat '•double X," "Barclay aud Perkins, etc., are offered in conjunction with hearty •joinis," of roast beef and mutton, so that the Englir.h who visit the Exposition are happy.
Bilea the cafes and restaurants there are im=ny other convenient rooms for othor purposes, situated on the piomenade.— Thero are other neat little saloons for writing letters and other memoranda, where by paying two or three cents you
