The White Pine Compound.

'It was early In (he spring of ltf5 that thiCompound wae originated: A member of my faml, ly was afflicted with an irritation of tho throats attended with a disagreeable cough, I had for some months previous thought that a pieparation having for its basis the inside bark of white pine might bo «o compounded as-to be very useful in diseases of the throat and lungs, latest the -aiue of it In tbo cose alluded to, I compcundod a email quantity of the medicine that I had been planning, andg»\olt oonful doMS. Tbe result was exceedingly-gratifying -Withtatwo days ths irritation' ofthe threat wa* removed, tne cough subsided and a Gpeedy euro was effected. Soon after this I sent some to a lady In Londonderry, N. H:, who had been snffering for some weeks from a bad cough, occasioned by a sudden cold, and bad raised muous streaked with blood. She soon und relieff and sent for more. Sho took about ten ounces of It, and got well. J. B. Olaike, Esj editor of the Manchester Dally Mirror, made a trial of the same preparation In the case of a severe cold, and was cured immediately. Ho we* so highly pleased with the results, and so confident In success attending it* s^lee, if plaofwi before the pnblic, that he fishily persuaded mo to give It a name, and send it i:-road to benefit the stilfwrlug. In November, 1355, first advertised it under the name or White Pine Compound. In two years from that time there had been wholmaledin Manchester alone One Hundred Dollars wcrtli, where it took the lead of all the congh remedies In tbe market, and it still maintains that position. Theia is good rea*ono for all this It is very soothing and healing iu its nature, is warming to the stomach, and pleasant withal to the taste, and is exceeding ly cheap. "As a remedy for kMney complaints tha White Pine Compound stands unrivaled. It was nf originated foi tbat purpose, but a person In using it for a couth was not only cured nf the rough, but wa* also cured of a kldnwy difficulty ot tei* years standing. Since that accidental d^overy many thousand* have nsed it for the same complaint, aud have been comjtetely cured."

The above was written by Dr. Poland, in 1800.3inc«then, a* in Manchester, tbe White Pine Compound has taken the lead of all Cou?h Remedies, as well as preparatlon*-ft»r the cure of Kidney difficulties, in every city town, village and hamlet throughout the 27ew £ngland States.

This remedr Is as sate and pleasant to take a* it I, effectual. The editor of th» Manchester Daily an-1 Weekly Mirror, in.the leader of the Daily, thus writes of the Compound: "Th? White Pin* Compound is advertised at much length in our columns, and we are happy to learn that the demand for it is increasing beyond all previon* expectations It Is tbe very best medicine for coughs and colds we kuow of, and no Csmily that has onre nsed it will evtfr be without It. We speak from our own knowledge it is sure to kill a cold, and pleasant as it is sure Tbe greatiel Invention* come by accident, and it i* singular that the White Pine Compound made tor congh* aad colds should prove to be the greatest remedy for kidney difficulties known.Butsoltis. We cannot doubt it, so many twtl monial* com* to as from well known mea. Betides, the character of Dr. Poland is such that we know that he will not countenance what Is wrong. For years a Baptist clergyman, studying medicine tc find remedies fbr his allmente, with a delicate, consumptive look, standing with one foot upon tbe grave, he made the discovery which has saved himself, aad call£l oat from other* the ttWogest testimonials possible. We have known Dr. Poland for years, aud never knew a more con*cientiois, bon •st, upright man, and are glad to state that we be lleve whatever he says about his White Pine Com pound.
