White Pine Compound fs now offered to the afflicted throughout the country, after having been proved by the test of eleven years, iu the New Englaud States, where its merits have become as well know as tbe tree from which, in part, it derives its virtue. The While Pine Compound Cures Sore Threat, Coldi, Coughs, Diphtheria, Bronchitis, Spitting of Blood, and Pulmonary Affections generally. It is a remarkable Bemedy for Kidney Complaints, Diabetes, Difficulty of Voiding Urine, Bleeding from the Kidneys and Bladder, Graf el and other complaints. "As a remedy for kidney complaint! the White Pine Compenud stands unrivaled. It was not originated for that purpose, bnt a person in using It for a congh was not only cured of the cough, but was also cured of a kidney difficulty of ten years standing. Since that accidental discovery many thousands have used it for the same com plaint, and have been completely cured."

oligarchy for the administration of| the commonwealth. They were deUberating on a bill for the future represents- I tion, in which they should have a perma* nent place when Cromwell resolved to make an end of them. It was the last incident in the natural series of a revolution, placing military power above all •ther.
Cromwell having Ordered a company of muskteeers to follow him, entered the House in "plain black clothes and worsted stockings," and sitting down listened awhilejto their proceedings. Hearing at length the question tbat the bill do pass, he rose, put off his hat, and began to speak, In the course of his address he told them of their self-seelungs and delap of justice, till at length Sir Peter Wentwerth interrupted him with a remonstrance against suen language. .Then blazing up he said: "We have had enough of this I will put an end to your prating."
Stepping into the floor of tbe House, and clapping on his hat, he commenced a violent harangue, which, lie occasionally emphasized by stamping with his feet, and which came mainly to this: -'It is not fit you should sit here any longer—you have sat too long for any good yoii: have been doing lately. You shall now give place to better men. Call them in!'' he ex* claimed, and his officer, Harrison, and a file of soldiers entered the House. Then proceeding: "You are no Parliament 1 !3ome of you are drunkards'—bending a stern eye upon Mr. Chalonger some of you are —a word expressive of a worse immortaility, and he looked at Henry Martin and Sir Peter Weritworth, "living in open contempt of God's commandments. Some of you are corrupt, unjust persons how can you be a Parliament tor God's people Depart, I say, and let us have done with yon. Go 1"
He lifted biB mace from the table and jave it to a musketeer, toie taken away le caused Harrison to give his hand to Speaker Lental and lead him down from the chair. The members, cowed by his violence and the sight of his armed men, moved gloomily out of the House. "It is the Lord thai hath caused me to do this," he said. "I have sought that he would rather slay me than put me upon doing this work." Sir Harry Yane ventured a remonstrance. "Oh, Sir Harry Vane," exclaimed the Lord General, "the Lord deliver me from Sir Harry Yane 1" When all had gone oat, he came out too and locked the door from that time he was master of the three kingdoms for about five and a half years.
rm Courtship ln Florlda. A A Southern correspondent in one of his letters informs us of a hovel and economical mode of courtship in Florida: "As you have never seen the language of pine I will give it here. A gentleman, wishing to court a lady, and not wishing to face the music in pergon, sends his lady love a pirce of pine, signifying, 'I pine for thee ehe, wishing to give a favorable answer, sends in return a pine knot, meaning, 'pine not or if she wishes to say no, she sends liim a burnt piuo knot, thereby signifying I make light of your pine"
Fools.
The King of Persia once ardered bis vizier to make out a list of all the fools in his dominions. He did so and put his Majesty,s name at the Head of them. The King asked him why, to which he immediately answered: "Because you entrusted a lac of rupees to men you don't know to buy horses forjyou a thousand miles off. and who'll never come back." "Ay. but suppose they come back?'' "Then I shall erase your name and insert theirs.

The Auiesbury Villager contradicts a rumor that Wbittier, the poet, is about to follow the exemple of Senator Sumner, and take a wife. The story is at least an improvement upon that which was started on one occasion whea he was a candidate for Congress, that he was an unkind husband, and treated his wife badly!
Hon. Joseph A. Wright, American Minister at the Court of Berlin, is so ill that serious doubts of his recovery are entertained by his friends.
