KILLKD.-

We learn from the Indi

anapolis Journal that Prof. Hamilton, who attracted so much attention in this citv last summer, by his feats in the business of horse-taming, wa9 killed, a short time sm^e, in the State of Michigan. It appears that thfere had been an old dispute between Hamilton and a man from Canadaj and the latter swore that if he ever met Hamilton again he would kill him. Hamilton disregarded the threat, but bis eneiny made his words too true. Prof. Hamilton will be well remembered by our citizens as the horseman who drove a fine blaek stallion through the streets without feigns.

S j, —A-iter-'ix For ths Express. As I was standing in the great temple of nature, I beheld two men approaching the place of prayerj one the Philosopher of the tub and the other a ceode.

The philosopher of the tub stood and prayed thus with himself: God, I thank Thee that I am not as other men such as "Grim old John Calvin," the Puritan fath* ers New England undtheir descendants of the present day, or even this Ceode, who would thrust himself botween me and the light of thy countenance, which I am permitted to enjoy in full orbed splendor continually. I am a lover of the "natural men" his pleasures, and a hater of the atra-bil-Lioin Credoes, therefore I do not fast twice in the week, I do not givetitheaot fell I possess to build churches, establish Sabbath Schools, support thf- Gospel and send the glad news ot' Salvation through "one Jesus" to tho perishing nations, but I use them for tho gratification of my "natural propensities" that fjmay honor Thee in the enjoyment of nil good things.

And the Credo standing ott" would not OO much as lilt up his eyes unto Heaven, but smote upon his breast sayi ng, '.JjSod be merciful unto me a sinner."

I observed that this man went down to his house with the light of justification in his heart, which far outshone that upon the fane of Diogenes at the mouth of his
