TERRE-HAUTE: SATURDAY JANUARY 4. lbC2 ir i refreshing to learn that amid the um -enal inactivity thit Is manifest throughout the tut armj we hire now la the fieKi. that there U one lire General. I ALL fair minded men are gratif ed at the recent arrangement mJe by Got. Moaroj with the Secretary of the Treasury, by which the amount due from thi State on acconut of the war Lax, is aet off by the mm due to the State by the General Government on avodat ef advances for the war. The arrange ment U an admirable one, an 1 reflects the hlgheat credit upon the floreruor, howing him to be fully equal to the heavy responx'bilitles now renting upon hiw. Loido larlng to the State over $100,000, on account of the deductlou allowed by the act of Congress, and getting rid of the collection of the tax by Federal officer, it has sated a good aar thousand dollars, by re mot log the necessity for a specUl session of the Legislature. One would suppoae that an arraugeraent of this kind would meet uul erat approbation; and If unquestionably sou!d but for the fsct that we hare amongst us tho whoae habit of faultfinding hare become ) confirmed and chronic. It was uoi to be expected, of course, that the few editors Itfl In this Slate, who are grieved it anything which contributes to strengthen the loyal State, and enable them more suecesfu!ly to carry on the war, would approve of anything done by dor Moar, hiving that tendency. There are not tusny of these, but they seer endearoring to wake up in malignity and desperation for their lucontlderable numbers. The people under.Un l these men well enough to know how io appredate what they say. Hut they hao found a helper In Mr. Oaaeta, so long known a the editor of the Mdaon (UurUr, whe tnothis are not ai readily understood.
