NEWS OF THE STOCK MARKE:
NEW YORK, Nov. 8.—Leading stocks opened at sharp declines today as a result of yesterday's false reports of the signing of a truce between Germany and the allies. Reactions of 1 to 5^ points were registered at the outset by Mexican Petroleum and many of the leading rails, as well as secondary issues of that division. Coppers broke an average of one point and motors fell back with prominent specialties. The few early gains were represented by Marine Preferred, American Sugar and Sumatra Tobacco, the latter rising four points, 'the market strengthened in all quarterns before th£ end of the first half hour.
