Runaway Girls Held.
my Special Correspondent. CLINTON, Ind.. Sept. 2f.—-Mary l*ate and Gladys EMwards, two young firls of Danville, 111., ran away from their momcs Thursdny night and came to grief when they met Chief of Police Carl Black, Friday morning.. The chief •scorted the little feminine prodigals to the jail and informed them that ould be their headquarters until the Chief of police of Danville or their parents came for them. At first the little Runaways expressed indignation, made Ugly faces at the big chief, and threatened him with action for fabulous damage judgment. They claimed they *»"re not from Danville, and that they •V-ould maJte it mighty warm for the ones responsible for putting them in the gloomy Jail. Later they weakened and admitted they did play hookey from the Illinois town and came down to a live Hoosler city to get a taste Of high life. The chief of police of ianvllle finally same down with one of the girl's parents and took them home. Before leaving the jail, the father of one of the girls confided to them fhat there was a good spanking •vaiting for them when they got back 1»y their own fireside.
