Demonstration of Equipment Made Sunday For JeffcrsonviDe Men Gives Good Satisfaction,

A demonstration of the city Are fighting apparatus ^nd its efficiency was made Sunday by Mayor Charles R. Hunter for a committee of city officials of JeffersonviLle, Ind. On account of the government request to conserve gasoline a part of the tour was postponed, but several of the fire stations were visited, and according to a report given by Mayor Hunter the visiting officials were highly pleased with the showing made by. the local fire laddies. .Mechanic Moars, of the St. Ixuis tire department John Ewald, of tl»q Louisville department H. B. Cassin, of the Jefferson county, Ky., department L. R. Shattuck, manager of the Peagrave Fire Apparatus company, and Professor Andrews, of the State Normal school, and Mayor Hunter and other local officials took especial interest in the work done by the large pumper and were amazed when 810 gallons of water a minute lifted sixteen feet hish wore ruslied throngh the apparatus. According to Shattuck a guarantee of but 7"0 gallons per minute and a lift of but ten feet had been given when the apparatus was purchased, the additional gain being attributed to the excellent manner in which the machine has been kept up.

Following the demonstration, the visitors were taken thmug:h a number of engine houses and through the city hall by Mayor Hunter. When leaving they expressed themselves as well .pleased with the courtesies extended them.
