That said plaintiff also filed an affidavit in due form stating that the names of a'l persons disclosed by the public records of Vigo county, Indiana, bv. tinder t»nd through whom some claim or title of interest in said land might possibly be asserted have been set forth in the complaint that the plaintiff does not know whether the persons so named are living or dead or their legal residence, whether defendants, Sallie J. Edwards, Mary M. Edwards or Virginia R. Edwards was married or not or the whereabouts of the respective husband or widower of each of said defendants, and if any such person be dead, leaving heirs, or devisees of said real estate, the plaintiffs do not know their names or legal residence.

That plaintiff claims full and complete right and title to the real estate described in said complaint against any and all persons whntsn»v*r, and that it is th» purpose of plaintiff to quiet title to said real estate as against thfc world.

That said real estate is located in vigo county, in the state of Indiana, and described as follows, to-wit:

In lot No. 163. of the original inlots of the town (now city) of Terre Haute, Indiana, and said non-resident defendants are now therefore hereby notified of thf pendency of said action against them and that the same will stand for trial on the second day of October, 1918. and unless said defendants appear and answer or demur to said complaint at said date the same will be heard and determined in their absence.

Aug. 20.—When the Paris school board, on motion of Director Burnie McClair, took the German language by the scruff of the neck an-d the seat of the trousers and hurled it out of the Paris high school curriculum, there was much discussion as to what language should be substituted in its place, since the entrance requirement of most colleges and universities require a certain number of units in a modern language during the student's high school course. At the time Director T.

but the board was divided, there being a good deal of sentimental feeling in, favor of French.

termining factor, Speaker Champ Clark, in his address Sunday afternoon touched upon this subject

By Special Correspondent. PARIS, 111., Aug. 20,—Jn the long list. of second lieutenants commissioned at Camp Taylor, Louisville, Kv., last Saturday, were two Paris boys, F. Leo Headier, son of former Judge and Mrs. S. I. Headley, and Leslie Maxwell, Bon of Mr. and Mrs. C. It. Maxwell. of* South Main street. Each of thfse boys during their course at the IHinois university took the military training given In that instltntion. Lieutenant. Headley, after a few days' visit with his parents, will report to Camp Jackson, Columbus, S. C., for duty as an instructor. He win remain there until he is ordered overseas for duty. Lieutenant Maxwell also has a week's furlough, after which he will be asaUta«4,.: to duty.
