Three Hundred and Siity Delegates Present for Rrst Meeting of Convention.

ANDERSON, lnd„ May 8.—The opening business session ot the annual convention of the State Federation of Labor was held this morning: at 10 o'clock and three hundred and sixty delegates from every local in the state was represented. Over, one hundred odditional visitors are here attending the meetings.

Mayor J. H. Mellett and J. A. VanOsdol, president of the chamber of commerce, welcomed the visitors, and Churles^'ox, of Terre Haute, president the state federation, responded, l'oday's sessions were devoted to the appointment of committees aud the examination of credentials of the delegates. Many prominent labor leaders of Indiana are here for the seacions.

Prohibition for Indiana- will be one of the main issues which will be discussed during the labor meetings. Aclipn will be proposed whereby the federation favors a vote of the entire people to determine whether or not Indiana be dry. Sentiment seems strongly in favor of such action. The Indiana Liberal league which met yesterday will ask the state federation to send a petition to President Wilson asking that he oppose national prohibition.

The annual meeting of the Indiana State Builoing Trades' Council will be held at 10 a. m.

PARIS H. HABD HIT.

But Six Thin Clads Report for Track Work. PARIS. Til., May '8.—War activities in the United States .have hit the athlectic "department of Paris high school hard. Heretofore the orange and black has been represented in track meets by at lekftt eighteen or twenty thin clads. but this.year only six have responded to the call.
