CLAY WORKERS STRIKE BELIEVED KM END

Action of Sewer Pipe Company Employes Thought to Herald Close of Controversy.

By Special Correspondent. BRAZIL, Ind., Oct. 2.—Following the action of the employes of the American Sewer Pipe company yesterday in voting 44 to 13 in favor of accepting the company's offer and returning to work, it was predicted today that this signals the end of the clay workers' strike here and that the other seven plants will soon make agreement with their men and return to work.

The agreement with the Anjerican gives the men a minimum of $2 a day, a nine hour day for all except kiln burners who get an eight hour day. A meeting of the employes will be held this evening at whfch a separate union will be organized for the American plant, A separate charter will be issued by the United Brick and Clay Workers' union for this local.

Indications that there might by' a hitch in the proceedings'developed this morning when Organizer Kasten said that a new question had arisen but it is claimed that the men will stand by their vote of yesterday and that they will return to work when the whistle blows in the morning.

Between 25 and 30 of the former employes of the Brazil Clay company returned to work this morning. Officials of the company said advances had been given the men in some departments and a nine hour day granted with eight hours for the burners.
