ROSE POLK PREPARES FOR LARGEST CLASS

Applications Already Total 102, and Turning Away of Students May Be Necessary.

The Rose Polytechnic Institute will open its 1916-1917 school year Wednesday with the largest freshman class in the history of the institute. Already i there are 102 applications for admission, not counting students who failed 3ast year and will return to take the work over again. Brazil, South

America, is the only foreign country

represented in the roster of the class, one student from that country being on the list.

stitute was held yesterday afternoon end plans for accommodating this S large class were considered, It is probable that no more students will be admitted but Vice President John i "White has requested any additional

Mees in person, as it is possible that some of those who have applied for admission will not come.

At the meeting yesterday the hour rj plans for the coming school year was I: arranged. Several shifts in olass rooms were also discussed, the purpose bei lng to take better care of the large •J freshman class. Dr. White said that possibly It would be necessary to em1 ploy one or more additional'instructors and to re-arrange some of! the class •schedules.

All of the members of the faculty have returned from their summer vacations and are In the city ready to take up the schcol work for the coming year. The entrance examinations i will commence Monday.

An innovation this year will be the establishment of a preparatory ceurse, |f designed for students desiring adIs, mission, but who lack the necessary |p equipment.' It will be especially for |.| students who have completed but two ||i years' high school work and the one 11 year preparatory course will equip ithem for entrance into the regular y$ classes the following year. This class if will meet Thursday morning at nine II o'clock.

^Preparations Being Made for Initiation of Large Class of Candidates This Month.

Members of Good Will council, No. 277, Young Men's Institute, will receive the quarterly holy communion at ther S o'clock mass at St. Joseph's church this morning. The members i have been asked to assemble at the jf club rooms at Eighth and Eagle streets in time to march to the church ?,in a body.

Preparations are being made to hold |E^n initiation for a large class the last of September and the members of the order are making a special effort to I get in their candidates for this work.

The Y. M- I. baseball team will go to Vincennes to play the "Mint Cola' team of that city and a number of rooters for the Terre Haute team are y, expected to make the trip.

Tuesday, Sept. 19, he will tour Vermillion county, making from s$c to twelve stops. Thursday, Sept. 21, he will tour kfVigo county, but will not speak in sTerre Haute on this day. Sunday, 5Sept. 24, he wdll speak at Coalmont, pnd., at 8: SO p. m. The socialists of •oalmont will hold a picnic and basket inner on this day. W. W. ANGRY BULL KILLS MAN.

Special Correspondent.' SANDBORN, Ind., Sept, 9.—Heuben lunter, aged 50 years, a farmer living itar Marco, Ind., was gored to death ||Triday evening by an angry bull. The ^members of the family missed him and started a search for him. They found liis body badly mangled. He leaves a /ife and several grown children. The fffrneral was held today.
