PLANS INSURE SUCCESS

Breeder^ of Various Classes of Livestock Sending in Entries— Auto Show Interests.

That the centennial fair and exposition' to be held at the fair grounds next Week will be the biggest and best of its kind ever attempted in Terre Haute is the assurance given by the interest -found by the officials of the fair and trotting association. According to Secretary Charles Duffln, entries for the race events as well as the exhibits of country produce and live stock are coming in with every mall and many of the horses 'entered in the state fair meet in Indianapolis this week will be seen in action on the local half mile track.

What gives promise of being one of the biggest features of the 1916 fair is ikhft automobile show to be held in a -/.large chautauqua tent on the fair 'i^ounds as a side issue. When the

Idea was first advanced the local autotnobile men took to it only in a halfhearted way but during the p.ast few tfays the interest has grown and where exhibitors were expecting to use one fthd two spaces they are now asking four and five. The accessory peos ilp are also making preparations to •i show a complete line of their wares to^.(ether with the automobile exhibits. 'For those who are interested in the

Automobile world this feature should %dd greatly to the interest in the fair $a a whole. S, Poultry fancieps are sending in their ftQtHes in numbers to assure the promoters of the affair of the success of tjjla angle of the exposition as are the, Vl*o county stock breeders una grower and the officials of the trotting association say they are better pleased & *rlth the indications than they have ever been this far in advance of any of their fairs.

The amusements will be furnished by the Parker shows, now exhibiting at the state fair and they will be brought directly t6 Terre Haute from Indianapolis. In speaking of these carnival Shows Mr. Duffln says they are to the carnival world what the Rlngling Brothers are to the circus world, the ..'best in the United States.

"Something-in shoes ^'Tes, I'm'feure we have Just what you want,'1 says the shoe man with a bland smile and invites you to "Just be- seated, please." "Now, then, will you have a gray, a trown, a red (only they don't call it red), an ivory, a tan, a plain black or a combination of colors," he next solicits. "Let me see some of them first," you answer, "and then I can tell you more about it." (Of course you're an unsuspecting creature—^you don't realize that the commonest' price for shoes nowadays lies from eight to ten dollars.) "Here's a very good looking gray," says the clerk, and displays to your view a sixteen eyelet lace shoe, pointed toe, high heel—Just about the same thing you saw last summer. If you show an interest in gray, he will n^xt show you probably another shade of gray, the same style shoe, and still another—a button suede—all of which are extremely good looking and it is no little task to determine which suits your foot fancy best. "How would you like something in the new browns? They're going to be quite good this, year—really about as popular as the grays have been," continues the salesman. He then, ftqlds to yoTir /fiew' a prety broWn, one xt th^ soft shades that made you wish you were a grown-up lady with a pocket full of money a good many years ago, This one is a button style. High tops hold good throughout. Then he passes on to a real tan, lace, for street wear, end places beside it a brown, also lace but not Quite so heavy—and you continue to be puzzled.

No End of Variety.

But the shoe man has a world of "patience and pulls down a dozen more boxes. "How would you like thin—it'i quite new and very out of the ordi nary," he says, holding up for your Inspection a shoe with black patent bottom and either ivory, white or tan top. "When you pucker your forehead and perhaps shake your head, he holds up again another shoe of the same combination except it has. a kid bottom. These he shows you in either lace or button

Not deterred from your lack of decision, that personification of patiencfe passes on and shows you a tan bottom shoe with an Ivory top or a tan bottom with a lighter tan for the top and on and on until he brings you through the extremes in black styles to the ultra conservative which you have recognized as your friends for years, then you rise from your seat and announce:

Awful Temptation.

"I Just simply can't make up my mind which want Will you send half a dozen pairs out to the house and IH see if I can select a pair there,"

But the shoe man will have no one but himself to blame because he has brought all these shoe temptations into the local market and has made It pretty hard for a weak-willed pocketbook to resist them.
