The annual bonfire to destroy the ballots an«a supplies returned from the spring prlitnary electtoii was made at 3 o'clock Wednesday afternoon on the city dump across the river.. By the orders of County Clerk John- F. Joyce, the custodian of the court house loaded a big wagon with the ballots and other paraphernalia and hauled them out and watched the fire until all- of the papers and books were destroyed.

DRAINAGE CASE INVOLVED. Suit Filed to Compel Apportionment of County Expense.

Suit was filed in the Circuit Court Tuesday afternoon by the state in relation to the Reservotr improvement compa,ny against the commissioners' boards of Vigo and Clay counties to compel them to meet in joint session to apportion the share of this expense of both counties in a proposed drainage system in Lewis and Perry townships in Clay county and in Pierson township in Vigo.

The improvement company in it« complaint says that preliminary steps have been taken for the construction of a drainage system about 5 miles in length at a cost pf about $55,00.0, and a large part of the expense has been cared for by the company. About 2,500 acres will be affected by the Improvement.

KIWANIS CLUB BANQUETS.

Weekly Luncheon of New Business Organization Held. The weekly luncheon of the' Kiwanis club was held at the Hotel Deming Wednesday. The two orial boosters who spoke to the twenty members present on their respective lines ot business were William F. O'Brien, president of the Smith-Alsop company, and Robert Bennett of the Bennett Electric company. There were two silent boosters, Jake Bassel, retail grocer, and Dan Qladish, retail coal dealer. Mr. Rassel donated a supply of groceries in a drawing contest. The groceries were won by Chalmers Hamill, president of the club. Coal supplies donated by Dan Gladish iwere won by Arthur I* Everett and Bassel.

Young Women $tage Close Contest to Represent County. The contest to select the young lady to represent Vigo county at the Indianapolis celebration of the Indiana centennial is showing increased interest every day and many votes i&e being received' at ttye Chamber of Commerce for the various young ladles who are in the race. At present Miss Mildred Thomas, 1006 South Fourth street, is in the lead. Other contestants are Lucille Cruse, of the Central Union Telephone company Maurlne May Powers, 1-284 South Fifth street Zelpha Asher, 1910 Third avenue, and Mae Medcalf, of the Hoot store.

LABOR TEMPLE ASSN. MEETS.

A meeting of the Labor Temple association has been called for next Sunday morning in the office of Andrew Powers, secretary. Officers of the committee announced Wednesday that all but $3,000 had been paid on the lot at ^Eighth and Eagle streets, the site of the proposed labor temple.

PEDIGO NOT FINED.

Through a confusion of affidavits in City Court Tuesday morning, court attaches announced Wednesday that Charles Pedigo, who was arrested on charges of stealing mussel shells, had not, been fined $5 and costs, a& announced Tuesday, but that the ca«e agajnst him had been dismissed.
