CHICAGO, Sept. 6.—Interest in school circles here today centered In possible developments in reference to nine teachers, "ousted for insubordination," by the school board Beveral months ago, who appeared in their class rooms yesterday and taught despite the order of the board. The teachers are members of the Chicago Teachers' federation, thirty-eight of whom.were dropped from the school's rolls last June. Miss Ida FuranuLn, president of the organization, Was among those who, backed by advloe of counsel, appeared at the school where she is head assistant and persisted In remaining "on the job.*

WASHINGTON, Sept. 6.—Edward S. Wertz, United States attorney for northern Ohio, at Cleveland, has been selected by President Wilson for appointment as United States district judge of that district to succeed Judge John H. Clarke, recently made an associate justice of the supreme court.
