TAKES EXTRA SUNDAY OFF. Girl Confronted by Charges for Household Damages.
NEW YORK, Sept. 2.—If the servant girl takes an extra Sunday off when you tell her to stay home and cook dinner sue her for breach of contract
If she chops meat for hash in an aluminum dish instead of a wooden chopping bowl charge her with incompetency.
If she soaks a washable dress so long that the colors run demand damages for injury to personal property.
All this is being done in the fourth district municipal court in Jamaica, where Judge Denton was confronted with those allegations by an irate householder, Mrs. Alma Gyilst'rom, an art student of Chichester avenue, Jamaica.
Her former servant, Hlla Higgins, sued for $20 for wages unpaid., in June'. Miss Gyllstrom set up a counter-suit, and through attorney Stephen H. Voris! of Jamaica, developed the ominous sounding allegations. decision was reserved. 1,1

OWNER COULDN'T RUN AUTO.
But the Thief, Who Disappeared With the Car. Could. SANTA MONICA, Cal.. Sept. 2.—Although he was unable to run his automobile with any great success, William Kirk is looking anxiously for the person whose mechanical ability enabled him to manage the car, as it was stolen from his home here.
Mr. Kirk had been having trouble with the auto, and believed if he, the owner, could not manipulate it there was little danger of it being stolen. Several parts of the machine, he said, were tied together with a string, so he believes the thief would not be able to get very far with it.
Police of Santa Monica and Venice Were notified, and Santa Monica motorcycle officers made a search of Los Angeles to the beach boulevards for the- stolen car, but did not find it, so it is believed the thief must have reinforced the string or In some way coaxed it to go.
