Large Crowd Assembles at Dant's Grove to Hear Address by Terre Hautean.

By Special Correspondent. BICKNELL, Ind., July 5—Bicknell was filled with visitors from surrounding towns Tuesday to enjoy the celebration held "In Dant's grove.

The afternoon was taken up by Bpeakers of wide reputation. Duncan McDonald of Springfield, 111., secretarytreasurer of the Illinois miners, delivered a short address, followed by Miss Bertha Pratt King, suffrage leader of Terre Haute, who gave a short talk.

M. L. Clawson, an attorney and orator1 of Indianapolis, also addressed the gathering. The Bicknell band furnished the music for the parade and at the other attractions.

Motorists Take Trips.

By Special Correspondent.' BICKNELL, Ind., June 5.—S. E. Dunn and mother, Mrs. Emma Dunn, left yesterday for Ogensburg, N. Y. They are motoring through".

Charles Fox and wife motored from Terre Haute yesterday to spend the day with Mr. Fox's parents, Mr. and Mrs. W. B. Fox.

Boys Give First Concert.

By Special Correspondent. -BICKNELL, Ind., July 5.—The Bickfiell boys' band, an organization of ^20 boys, gave its first concert on the streets today. The band is under the leadership of Joe Moffett and is composed of boys rangjng in age from 14 to 20 years.

Large Crowd Expected.

By Special Correspondent. BICKNELL, Ind., July 5.—A large crowd is expected Friday night at the closing of the Chautauqua when Captain Richmond Pearson Hobson will deliver a lecure.

HELD IN GIRL'S DEATH.

Four Accused of Part in Illegal Medical Practices. SALEM, Mass., July 5.—Attracted by the mysterious movements of an automobile, which had sped up and down -Boston street for half an hour early today, Policeman Dennis Healy stopped the car and discovered within the body of, Mi3s Margaret Ward, of Peabody. Six men, who were in the car, one of whom was former State Representative Charles R. O'Connell, of Peabody, were arrested by Healy. A charge of being accessories to illegal medical practices wan placed against them.

In addition to the former representative they included nia brother, James O'Connell, of Lynn George A. Bardwell, a memoer of tne crew of the United States cruiser Kearsarge Daniel J. Dineen, and William D. Conlin, of Salem, and Thomas J. Sexton, of Peabody, who had driven the car.

Bardwell, Sexton and Charles O'Connell were released under $2,000 bonds cach.

Miss Ward recently had been employed at a Peabody store.

FACES BLIND TIGER CHARGE.

Edward Bargman was arraigned in City Court Wednesday morning on charges of operating a "blind tiger" at the foot of Maple avenue, following his arrest Tuesday morning by Sheriff Krietenstein and Deputies Guess and Roberts. Bargman plead not guilty and the case was continued until Saturday. The officers found a trap door beneath a b$d, leading into a cellar where they found four cases of beer and a quantity of whiskey.
