CARNIVAL CO. SHOWS DRAW LARGE CROWDS

It's Moose Week At East End Lot, and Fun and Novelty Are There In Plenty.

The Harry W. Wright CarnivMjfcompany, which was brought to the Sty by the Loyal Order of Moose lodge No. 1009, opened its shows to the publlo at Nineteenth street and Wabash avenue, Monday evening, and was greeted by a large crowd. All of the shows were well patronized and the concerts by the carnival company band did much to liven up the evening.

One of the clcverist mechanical devices ever seen in the city is Teske and

Sullivan's miniature farm. Everything that can be seen around a modern and' complete farm can be Been ••it this place, on a small scale, with tlie men and animals moving around, true ,to life.

Daisy and Nellie, the trained horses ith the Ratchford show, attracted much attention by the manner in which they would go through fire and smoke without exhibiting any sign of fear. Zenola, the girl with the diamond teeth, attracted her full share of the sight seeing crowd.

Crystal Maze were well patronized. The Frisco Frolics and the Darktown Follies gave an entertainment consisting of singing and dancing that pleased.

Bob, the boxing kangaroo, is a feature of Powell's ten-ln-one show. At this same place the smallest moose in the world may also be seen.

The motor speed demons who are doing the riding at the motordrome made many a spectator hold his breath as they circled the track at break-neck speed, passing and repassing each other. The seventy-five-foot ferris wheel gave the people a splendid chance to get up Into the air and look over the carnival grounds, which tire very attractive, being a mass of waving flags and flashing lights.

Tripp, the armless wonder, performs many feats that seem impossible. Each one of the fifteen shows is clean and entertaining.

Richard Wally opens the show with expert manipulation of billiard balls. Mr. Wally works very fast and he does a lot of tricks that are evidently his own. The closing feature, "The Jay Circus," with Dan Shepnan, is as laughter compelling as ever. Dora Pelletier, the singing comedienne, who uses the sort of songs that Emma Carus and other lone stars have so successfully used in big time vaudeville is evidently a very appreciative lady, for at the matinee, in response to rather stingy applause, she made a speech in which gratitude was the keynote. Miss Pelletier certainly works hard to wiji recognition. Perhaps she isn't equipped with the right sort of songs. Good choosing is half the battle in facing a vaudeville crowd in a single handed combat. And sometimes a cold audience mars a good act. Billy Swede Hall, Jennie Colborn and Georgia Milegan appear in a sketch called "Bud Weiser" in which Mr. Hall Is an Irish chambermaid and later on a race track tout. He is more convincing in the male garb, minus the brogue. Miss Colborn is a chorus girl of the Rose Stahl type and Miss Millegan Is an attractllve bell hop.

"The Girl of Tomorrow," the musical show now running at the La Salle opera house, Chicago, will come to Terre Haute some time this month. Joseph E. Howard, Mabel McCane, Jack Gardner and James J. Morton are in the cast,

It isn't exactly what they say, but the way they say Jt that markes the sidewalk conversation introduced by Clark a.nd Verdi the most entertainingfeature of the current vaudeville bill at the Hippodrome.

Clark and Verdi imperosnate a couple of Italians who mess up the English langauge after the manner of Weber and Fields, only they use a different dialect, of course. One is a wise, almost Americanized Italian, the other an apt greenhorn. They keep up a running flro of jumbled up, nonsensical conversation, but are very serious about it all. And it is very, very funny stuff.

COMMENT MULCTED BY FAKE BORROWERS

Many Who Obtained Money to Come Home When War Began Found to Have Given Fictitious Names.

NEW YORK, Nov. 2.—Publication here of the list of delinquents, who borrowed money from the United States government in order to get home from Europe when the war started, did not cause any rush to the United States sub-treasury office to repay the funds loaned. Of the names made public by the secretary of the treasury 652 were supposed to be residents of New York city. Their names are on file in the sub-treasury here and a few of the debtors called there and promised to pay later.

A random investigation of some of the names and addresses contained in the list showed that many of the borrowers were not residents of New York, but gave fictitious names and addresses. Some of them never returned to this country. In several instances where hotel addresses had been given the borrower was not registered at the hotel. Others could not be found at apartment houses given as their homes.

One of the borrowers had been Ij ing in Paris for five years. Anotiier gave an empty lot as his address. Others had gone west or declared they were never in Europe.

A few of the delinquents who were found at the addresses they have given pleaded poverty and said they would pay up as soon as they could.

STUBBORN ECZEMA HEALED BY AMOLOX

We are daily receiving letters of praise from people who have been cured by Amolox. Many of them tell how, for years, they have tried different remedies and doctors in the vain effort to find relief. Some become discouraged and lose all hope of ever being cured. E. R. Frisbee, 187 Sycamore St., Mansfield, O., writes: "Our baby's face was covered with eczema scales, sores and scabs. She was a pitiable sight. We tried everything. Took her to Pittsburgh doctors but were unable to find any relief until we used Amolox. It cured her within a short time."

Amolox ointment will quickly heal pimples on the face, red nose, and minor skin troubles. Chronic cases of dry or moist scaly eczema require both the ointment and liquid to effect a cux-e. At all drug storcrj. Trial size, 50c. Recommended and guaranteed by BuntUi Drug Co.
