tion. That Carranza will make an unfavorable response to the appeal on the ground that foreign intervention would be unwelcome to the Mexican people is the belief of his representatives here. His friends claim he will say that he already has brought peace to a large part of Mexico that he is in full control of that territory that he is restoring order and that after removal of the capital from Vera Cruz to Mexico City he will consent to confer with the revolting factions. In other quarters, however, It was said that he might agree on a conference based on proportional representation.
Secretary Daniels has ordered the battleships Louisana and New Hampshire, enroute to southern waters, to proceed immediately to Vera Cruz where they are due to arrive Wednesday to replace the gunboats Marietta and Sacramento. The Marietta has been ordered to Progreso because of difficulty in getting American sisal shipments out of that port. Secretary Daniels explained that no further alarming reports had come from Vera Cru* and no trouble was looked for.

OPENS NEW WINE CELLAR.
New Feature at Monninger Winery on North Seventh Street. Gerhardt Monninger, of the Ann of P.. H. Monninger & Sons, wine growers, has been busily engaged for some time constructing an old-fashioned German Rathskeller to be operated in connection with the wine rooms at the Monninger place, 1940 North Seventh street. Mr. Monninger said Tuesday that the- Rathskeller likely will be opened next week.
Untrue to the name, the new room is not below the ground, but would have been, Mr. Monninger said, had it not been for the fact the underground wine cellars are damp and cold.

reputable lawyer is a disgrace to the profession. There ought to be an Investigation by the body which can take care of men as file such insults. "If there was an investigation It would be the worse for your client," said Ballard and pointing at Whitlock he said. "There is going to be a disbarment proceeding soon and no one in the city will want to speak to you, Mr. Whitlock. "Well, I don't want to speak to you." Whitlock replied, "I don't want to have anything to do with a man like you."
Colliver filed his motion to strike out and Ballard objected on the grounds that the case had already been set for trial and that dilatory proceedings were out of order. The court continued the hearing until Thursday morning at 9 o'clock.
