Miss Marie Hazelrigg of South Ninth street entertained Saturday afternoon in honor of Miss Gretchen Silvey, guest of Mrs. B. B. McAllister. The entertainment was in the nature of & theatre party, the guests being taken to see the performance of "Kindling" at the American theatre. A luncheon at Valentines followed. MRS. C. O. 8RLF, PRB9IDBNT OF THE TUESDAY CLUB. Mrs. C. O. Self, for years a (prominent club woman and civic worker, is head of one of Terre Haute's best known organizations of women—the Tuesday club. The club has a membership of 24 and it is affiliated with the Ixcal Council of Women's clubs.

The object of the Tuesday club is two-fold—that of improving the minds of the members by some special line of stu«y and of keeping Informed on present' day questions and problems and to do its share of any civic work undertaken by the local council of women.

When the general topic of study for next year will be modern novels, the club has outlined a program of miscellaneous subjects in connection with It. Among them are "Present Day Problems," such as "The High Cost of Living" and "Mother Pensions," "What is Neutrality," One Good Law Passed by the Last Legislature," "Commission Form of 'Government for Cities," and the "Federal Drug Law."

She is also considered as an unusually well equipped school teacher but Is tarred from the Terre Haute public schools because of being married. She was for two years principal of the Hymera schools but refused the position last year because she wished to remain at home. During this summer, however, she has been teaching a number of pupils privately in her home, devoting all her time from 7 o'clock until noon to this work.

They visited the fairs at San Francisco and iSan Diego, all of the principal coast resorts, and made the trip through Yellowstone park enroute home.

Mr. and Mrs. Homer Talley, Mr. and Mrs. Ed Talley and Miss Ota Bartlett are spending the summer at Chautauqua Lake, New York. While there they expect to hear Mrs. Pennypacker, president of the Federation of Woman's Clubs. Miss Bartlett is contemplating going later to Cape Maine, N. J.

Mrs. S. C. Stimson will give a Chautauqua address at Grand View, Ind., next Wednesday evening. She will also attend a meeting of the legislative oounoil in Indianapolis the following Thursday. The subject of Mrs. Stlmaon's address will be "Daughters as Cornerstones."
