SUXJLJVAN, Ind., July 20.—On an affidavit filed in the prosecutor's office, Sheriff Kelly and Deputy Sheriff Hale took into custody Saturday evening, Everett Foster, of Owensboro, Ky., who was alleged to have been selling intoxicants Illegally. Friends Hide Offender.

SULLIVAN, Ind., July 20.—Isaac Crawford, who is on suspended sentence, pending good behavior, for attempting to hold up a mail carrier, started trouble at Shelburn Saturday night and as the result of resisting Town Marshal W. E. Wright, was dealt four or five heavy blows on the head. A crowd of men and boys toook Crawford into a saloon and refused to let the marshal enter. While Wright was telephoning for Sheriff Kelly, Crawford was hidden away and it is said he left Sunday morning on the 3:20 train south.

Shelburn Cases Aug. 4.

By Special Correspondent. SULLIVAN, Ind., July 20.—The trial of the six Shelburn saloon keepers charged with riotuous conspiracy, which was set for Monday morning before Justice John T. Watson, has been^ continued until August 4, and a change of venue had been taken to the court of Justice Duncan at Dugger. Each defendant gave bond in the sum of $3,000 for his appearance in court the day of trial.

Big Barn Destroyed.

By Special Correspondent, SULLIVAN, Ind., July 20.—Henry Hawton, a farmer east of Sullivan, suffered the misfortune of losing his large barn by fire. The lightning struck the barn and it burned before two horses could be saved. Eight tons of hay was also destroyed. The loss was partially covered by insurance.

By Special Correspondent. SULLIVAN, Ind., July 20.—Adam Betty and his son, Nevilin, aged 8, had a. narrow escape, Nevilin, aged 8, had when the shop in which were working was struck by light~~ig. brought to the county Jail and stoi in the basement. Foster was arraignea in the city court before Mayor Calvert where he pleaded guilty to operating a blind tiger. He was sentenced to the penal farm for ninety days.

old house boat, two miles north of Brightlight, on the Wabash river Sunday afternoon and confiscated a large quantity of beer and whiskey. No men could be found and the officers learned they had escaped to the Illinois side of the river a short time before they arrived. The names of the alleged bcotleggers were not learned.
