Theodore Roberts one of our very best diameter actor.either in who spoken or silent drama, is the real star of "The Woman," the Lasky-Belasco film production of William C. DeMille's plav, which is being shown at the AmViican for the last, time today. A telephone girl is the hertine in this plav. Certain political opponents of a voung "insurgent" by the name of Ktandi: are peeking to unearth the one incident of his fe which he has a'avs kept from 'lie public. They lay a trap !c that Standish will try to vsrn the "woman" by telephone. Standish is deceived and doea as expected. And that is where the telephone girl conies in. Neither bribes nor threats can induce her to give the number •which Standish has called to his enemies, and she even destroys the sheet on which it is written. Lois Meredith is the telephone girl. Mabel Van Buren, F.rnest Joy and James Neill are others in the cart.

Norma Talmadge and S. Rankin Drew have the leading parts in Elsa's Prother." the Yitagraph drama that is being shown at the Fourtain today. A Selig animal drama and a "Slippery Slim'' comedy are also

The last big' sliow of the season, and 1 he bt-fct of its kind of the year, comes "io 1h Grand next Friday night, when

Joseph P. Santley will appear in ms ruisical review, "All Over Town." This •will be the first of the musical reviews to reach Terrc Haute. The Winter Gaiden show, with Trixie Friganza and other stars, was booked at the Grand, but. never reached here on uccour.t of the flood. Washington, Pittsburgh, Cleveland and Detroit have already seen "All Over Town." I have ead carefully all of the newspaper cnt ic'Kms of the show, published in these citiey, and they are all favorable.

I11-

tieod, some of the critics, notably Archie Bell, of Cleveland, go so far as to ray Mr. Santley's show is bigger and better than tither Zicgfeld's "Follies' or the Shubert's Winter Garden review. Indianapolis will wee the show

frst half of next week. After the engagement here the company goes into Chicago for a summer's run. It will be seen that Indianapolis and Terre Haute ave especially favored in the routing of Mr. Santley's show. There's a reason for tiiis. Mr. Sar.tley lias always been a strong favorite in Indianapolis. He played three or lour engagements to capacity business in "When Dreams Come True" Indianapolis. As a boy actor in 'Billy the Kid," Mr. Sancley use.l to fill the Grand, and when he came back as the accomplished singing and dancing star of "When Dreams Come True." he played a mid-week matinee to almost capacity and, at night, with the big charity ball at the Hotel Doming as a counter attraction, he packed the Grand.

Mr. Santlev has a bunch of stars with him. It has been his ambition for years to organize the biggest and best light musical show in America, and I am convinced for all I can hear regarding "All Over Town" that he lias accomplished his purpose. "When Drc-ams Come True" was generally regarded as the bes-t musical comedy xo reach the Grand this season, but they teli me "All Over Town" is bigger arid bettor. Mail orders for seats for this engagement are now pouring in. Jt will be well for out-of-town peoole to reserve their seats, for this engagement certainlv ought to be, and very likely will be, Warfieldian.

The plot of "The Diamond From the Sky" begins to thicken. In the second epicode of the North American serial, on view at the Grand todav, Lottie T'ickford ar.d Irving Cummings, the heroine and the hero, are effectively introduced ak-o the arcliv:l)ic.'n appears in the person of William TtuKT.ell. Tv»a'. he is "a villian right" Mr. Russell demonstrates right iff the reel, for he starts his depredations with murder. He didn't exactly mean to kill the good old doctor, but circumstances seemed to impel him to do -so. Possession of the big diamond was the incentive for the mutdcr. Lottie Pick ford looks and acts very much like her yiore fnniou.s sister, Mary. On the bill with "The Diamond From the Skv" is a western photoplay, in which W.'S. Hart is featured. Mr. Hart represents one of those grim-visaged. intrepid frontiersmen—a type of characterization in which is is supreme.
