CAMP ACCEPTS TWO MEMBERS AND PLANS COURT MARTIAL
Spanish War Veterans Make Arrangements for Memorial Day Celebration At Meeting.
Almost the entire membership of the Claude I* Herbert camp, United Spanish War Veterans, was present at the meeting Tuesday night when two new members were mustered in. Commander Percy Garrett announced at the meeting that a court martial trial will be conducted at the next meeting of the camp as a feature. This will be the first time a court martial trial has been called and there was some anxiety expressed until Garrett indicated the proceedings may not be serious. A special session will be held following the trial.
The camp made all arrangements to participtte in the Memorial day program. The camp will send one firing squad to the Highland Lawn cemetery and another to Brazil, Ind. A delegation from Brazil attended the meeting and asked for a squad to be sent there for the exercises.
ENGINEERS OPEN CONVENTION.
Considers Endorsement of Probe of Nagel Appointment. CLEVELAND, O., May 12.—At 9 o'clock this morning the first triennial convention of the Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers opened its sessions in the auditorium of the engineers' building here with nearly all of the 860 delegates from all over the United States present.
Business sessions will be held each afternoon and evening and the convention will last two weeks. One big issue to be fought out will be the proposition of endorsing the action of the western wage committee in asking congress to investigate the appointment of Charles Nagel, former secretary of commerce and labor, to a place on the board of arbitration which recently announced a decision in the western wage controversy. The grand international auxiliary, composed of the wives of engineers, is also in session here. Tonight there will be a reception and
ball at Central armory.
