NEWS OF THE STOCK MARKET.
NEW YORK, April 15.—Early dealings in the stock market today pointed to another session of extreme activity. Initial prices suggested further prcfitt&King by reason of the irregularity of the movement. Bethlehem Steel opened with a lot of 500 shares at 135 to 136. a minimum over night rise of S points. Oains of 2 to 5 points were registered by various industrial and equipment issues, while some of the more important railway shares, like Union Pacific, New York Central, Atchison and sSt. Paul, were fractionally lower.
Trading lost none of its feverish activity during the morning session, the overturn of the first two hours approximating yesterday's enormous total. There was a confusion of gains a.nd losses, and leading stocks continued to evince a further irregularity, Heading's course being especially erratic. London and other foreign centers were sellers heer to a considerable extent and local interests particularly the trading element, renewed their operations on the short side. Bonds wero irregular.
Inevitable profit taking took the edge oft the late rise, leaders declining 1 to 2 points from thfeir best. The closing was strong.
