Leaves Note Inviting Capture, and Makes Good His Escape. By Special Correspondent

CLAY CITY, Ind., Nov. 5.—While Mrs. Abe Burger, living two miles south of Clay City, was away from home Monday afternoon her house was ransacked p.nd $40 in money taken. A young man, who had been husking corn on the farm for a few days and boarding with Mrs. Burger, took the money and left a note saying he had found what he had been looking for, gave his name and said for them to catch hira if they could. When Mrs. Burger returned home in the evening and discovered her loss she made every effort to catch the fellow, but as yet no trace of him has been found.

Clingerman, son of Mr. and Mrs. Dan Clingerman, of Martz, were married at Terre Haute Saturday, October 31. They will reside in Illinois. Miss Wilks was a teacher in the schools at Martz and resigned her position last Friday. Miss Vida Cooprider has been selected to fill the unexpired term.

TWO REPUBLICANS ELECTED.

Washington Township Democrats Elect All Road Supervisors. By Special Correspondent

BOWLING GREEN, Ind., Nov. 5.— Despite the claim of a majority of 42 by democrats in Washington township, Henry Kohlenberg, republican, defeated Ira Huber, democrat, for township trustee by 6 votes, and John C. Williams, republican, defeated Otis Moon, democrat, for assessor by 9 votes at the election held Tuesday, but all ot the democratic candilates for road supervisor were elected. The vote for a constitutional convention and for an appropriation for a state centennial received practically no support here.

Two socialist votes were cast in Precinct No. 2, and eight votes were cast for the state progressive ticket except for secretary of state, he receiving only seven votes.

DEMOCRATS ARE SUCCESSFUL.

Win All But One Office In Wabash fjt County, Illinois. liv Special Correspondent.

MT. CARMBL, 111., Nov. 5.—In the election in Wabash county the following officers were elected: W. S. Willhite, county judge L. A. Kemp, county sheriff J- P. McClain, county clerk Jeff N. Loudin, county treasurer W. H. Wetzel, county superintendent. William Stoltz, county commissioner. All of the newly elected officers are democrats. When they take their places there will be but one county office filled by a republican, that of 'county commissioner, filled by Christian Bosecker.
