Miss Mldred Edmunds entertained the members of the Theta Phi sorority Saturday evening at her home, 318 •South i'ourth street. The following officers were elected: Miss Helen Franke, president M'ss Helen Paine, vice president Miss Zazel Wheeler, secretary Miss Rose Tuller. treasurer. The other members of %he sorority are the Misses Ella Smith. Edna Warner, Thelma Green, Nina Green, Catherine Nantz, Susie Hess, Sarah Newlin. Miss Carol Newlin was a guest of the sorority.
After the business session the evening was spent in dancing and games. Refreshments were served.
Dr, and Mrs. O. M. Brown and Mr. and Mrs Robert G. Watson returned Sunflay evening from Newcastle, where they motored in the Brown car for a week end visit with Dr. Brown's sister, •Mrs. William Peed, and family. Mr. and Mrs. Peed entertained at dinner Saturday evening at their home in honor of their daughter, Mrs. O. C. Staples, of Tulsa, Okla. Dr. Brown and party motored to Indianapolis Saturday, where thev stopped for luncheon at the English before continuing the trip to Newcastle. They stopped in Indianapalis Sunday for dinner at the English en route to Terre Haute.
Mrs. Stalnaker will entertain th* members of the southwest section of the aid society of the Maple Avenue M. E. church Tuesday afternoon at her home, 2011 North Ninth street.
Mrs. W. E. Price will be hostess Wednesdav afternoon for the meeting of the .southeast section of the society at her home, 823 North Tenth street.
Mrs. Coble will entertain the members of the north rection of the society Wednesday afternoon at her home, 2224 Garfield avenue.

Dr. and Mrs. O. M. Brown, of Barbour place, will spend Tuesday and Wednesday in Paris, 111., where they will be entertained by Mrs. J. Grant Brov/n during the meeting of the Eastern Illinois Dental association.
Dr. Brown is scheduled for a paper on Tuesday afternoon and on Wednesday morning.
Mrs. Brown and daughter. Miss Catherine, who recently moved here from Pewee Valley, a fashionable suburb of Louisville, Ky., have taken one of the McDonald apartments on North Fifth Ktreet Mrs. Brown and daughter were the guests of Mr. and Mrs. Blow, of South Sixth steret, last week.
Mrs. Ray G. Jenckes, of South Sixth street. who prepared an abundance of food for her annual fish fry scheduled for Saturday at Numa, and which was called off, owing to the rain, presented the members of the Flora M. Gulick Boys' club with a fried chicken treat.
The first annual meeting for Council of Jewish Juniors was held Sunday. The annual election of officers took place with the following result: Edgar GoldBtine, president: Miss Rena Schloss, vice president Max M. Ades, secretary Harry Goldman, treasurer.

QUEEN OF BELGIANS HAS NOT LEFT COUNTRY AS REPORTED.
Definite Information Reaches London That She Is Still in Ostend—King Albert Moves About.
L/ONIX3N, Oct. 12.—2 p. m.—Definite Information has been received here that the queen of the Belgians, notwithstanding the report last week that she had reached England, has not left Ostend for London.
In the course of the operations around Antwerp last week King Albert proceeded to St. Nicholas, an important place on the railroad line beween Antwerp and Ghent, and beyond the outer range of the Antwerp forta. His majesty was at St. Nicholas as late as last Thursday morning. His subsequent Journey westward was In company with Belgian troop® whos« withdrawal in that direction had been rendered necessary by the overwhelming forces opposed by them.

Brooks, director of Smith observatory and professor of astronomy at Hobart college, said today that Delavan's comet can now be well seen .•with the naked eye in the western evening sky. It is ten degrees below the last star In the handle of the "big dipper" and moving toward the bright star Arcturus, above which the comet •will pass on October 26.
