Woman Fails to Collect Large Sum as Housekeeper for Husband. JERSEY CITY, N. J., Aug. 8—An agreement between husband and wife to the effect that the latter receive a weekly wage for performing household duties has been held by an advisory master in the chancery court in this cltv to be illegal. "Work performed in the home by the wife, the ouinion declared, was rendered in discharge of a duty she owes the husband and could not be construed as her 3010 separate account.

The opinion was announced in a case having for its basis a mortgage claim for $5,592 by Mrs. Herman M. Wendt against property owned by her husband, $1,000 of which represented a loan and the balance hack pay for housework performed by the wife at the rate of $6 a week for sixteen years. Mrs. Wendt's claim had been filed as having precedence over any mortgage claim on the same property held by a mortgage company. Her claim was disallowed.

Olson, a floatman at Harlem river. Conductor Rowe looked him In the face once. Later he asked for his vrrest. His guess was right. The nose didn't belong to Olson, nor the pass to Levinson.
