RELIEF VESSEL READY 10 START FOR EUROPE
Cruiser Tennessee, With $7,500,000 Aboard for Stranded Americans, Will Lift Anchor Today.
NEW YORK, Aug. 6.—The cruiser Tennessee with $7,500,000, including 32,500,000 appropriated by the government, for the relief of Americans stranded in European ports, was ready to start on her voyage today from Tompkinsville, S. I., where she dropped anchor last night after leaving the New York navy yard-
The $5,000,000 in gold from the consolidated banks and the 12,500,000 in government funds was not taken aboard the Tennessee until this morning. Private consignments in gold in sums of $1,000 to $5,000 were accepted yesterday by Col. Smith, of the army quartermasters' department, who undertook their delivery to Americans in Paris and other European porta. In addition the Tennessee carried $200,000 to pay the army and navy officers aboard. It was said that many other private consignments of gold might have been taken by the Tennessee if the cruiser were not sailing on such short notice.
None of the officers of the Tennessee knew her destination. It was their orders, they said, to take Assistant Secretary of War Breckinridge, who has complete authority to go any place his orders from Washington direct him.
TO TAKE BATTLEFIELD
At least two of the German residents of the city are prepared to answer the appeal issued by O. Mesger, German consul at Cincinnati, for natives of that country to offer their services to the army. The two men are Alfred Hellwich and Adam Reichert, 128 North Eleventh street. Both of these men have written letters to the German consul asking if their services are needed, and declaring that they are ready to go and flght for their native country if they are needed.
OSCAR BAUR FAMILY IN WAR TERRITORY
Mr. and Mrs. Oscar Baur and their family, formerly of Terre Haute, now of Chicago, are among the tourists whose plans have been upset by the European war. Arthur Baur, of this city, had a letter from them a few days ago. Mr. Baur wrote that they had just finished an extended tour of Europe and would settle in Berlin for several months. This was a few days before war was declared. It is believed they are still in Berlin.
HERRICK HITS SPECULATORS.
PARIS, Aug. 6.—Ambassador Myron T. Herrick, in order to prevent stranded Americans from being 3Xplolted by speculators, today went to a hotel where one was doing business and posted a notice saying that the American embassy had nothing to do with the enterprise hich was charging $50 for transportation by river steamer from Paris to Rouen and $100 for the voyage to an English port.
DISCUSS CROP CONDITIONS.
Beginning Thursday, a series of meetings will be held by Prof. J. C. Beavers of the crop department of Purdue experiment station, and A. W. Hayes, county agent of Sullivan county, at various farms in the county. Place of wheat in rotation, soil preparation, different varieties of wheat for Sullivan county, practical fertilization of wheat, combatting wheat insects, plant food requirements, seed selection and the time for seeding will be discussed at the meetings.
AN [US* WAV TO GET FAT AND BE STRONG
The trouble with most thin folks who wish to gain weight is that they insist on drugging their stomach or stuffing it with greasy foods rubbing on useless "flesh creams," or following some foolish physical culture stunt, while the real cause of thinness goes untouched. You cannot get fat until your digestive tract assimilates the food you eat.
Thartks to a remarKable new scientific discovery, it is now possible to combine into simple form the very elements needed by the digestive organs to help them convert food into rich, fat-laden blood. This master-stroke of modern chemistry is called Sargol and has been termed the greatest of fleshbuliders. Sargol aims through its regenerative, reconstructive powers to coax the stomach and intestines to literally soak up the fattening elements of your food and pass them into the blood, where they are carried to every starved, broken-down cell and tissue of your body. You can readily picture the result when this amazing transformation has taken place and you notice how your cheeks fill out, hollows about your neck, shoulders and bust disappear and you take on from 10 to 20 pounds of solid, healthy flesh. Sargol is absolutely harmless, Inexpensive, efficient. Your druggist has it and will refund your money if you are not satisfied, as per the guarantee found in every package.
Caution:—While Sargol has given excellent results in overcoming nervous dyspepsia and general stomach troubles It should not be taken by those who do not wish to gain ten pounds or more.

FOOD PRICES ABOUT STATIONARY IN PARIS
Government Forced to Fix Amount in But Few Cases—Harvest Offers Biggest Problem.
PARIS, Aug. 6.—Food remains plentiful in Paris and prices have only very slightly increased since the outbreak of war. Meat and vegetables are the principal commodities affected, as retailers find difficulty In bringing them from the central depots because all delivery wagons have been requisitioned for military purposes.
In the great central markets there were large quantities of vegetables today and push cart dealers reaped a rich harvest, as they had the advantage over storekeepers whose vehicles had been taken by the military.
The principal wholesale prices today for sacks containing 220 pounds v/ere: Potatoes and string beans,
Eggs also must be sold according to an official tariff new laid eggs costing four cents each, fresh French e«gs three cents each, while other eggs are marked at 32 cents a dozen.
The problem of getting in the harvest has given much cause for thought to the French ministry of agriculture, which Is considering a scheme for replacing the men who have Joined the army by training all children from ten to sixteen years of age in field work under the guidance of old people.
MAYOR CAN SPEAK AT IF HE WILL
The notion that the Red Men's lodge of Harmony, Shasta tribe No. 288, I. O. R. M., had boycotted Mayor Donn M. Roberts and had withdrawn an Invitation to the mayor to speak at the annual picnic of the lodge seems to have been all a mistake. The irtfvitation not only was not withdrawn, but the Red Men seem to think the mayor a pretty good Indian, and they intend to carry out the original program.
This Information came in the following letter received by the Tribune Thursday: Harmony, Ind., 5 Sun, Hot Moon, Common Bra, 1914. Editor of the Tribune:—
Through a vote of our lodge last night I was instructed to write to the several newspapers to correct a report published in the Monday issue of the Morning Star in Terre Haute, relative to any dissension among our members over having Mayor Donn M. Roberts. of Terre Saute, as one of the speakers for our picnic, August 16. The Star has been asked to correct the renprt, but has failed to do so. We never niought for a moment of cancelling the speaking engagement of Mayor Rob erts. We want lu tee anu hear him and we do not ccnsult the papers about whom we have to address us. Respectively,

Fruit and poultry sold at less than the usual price, while butter was abundant, but the price had Increased, as the public, fearing a shortage, had begun buying quantities of twenty pounds. The authorities today forbade retailers to sell more than one pound to each customer and fixed the maximum price at 44 cents a pound.

GERMAN CITIZENS
German Consul Mezger, of Cincinnati, who serves for Indiana and her German citizens, today issued a notification saying that since Great Britain had joined Germany's enemies, it will now be almost impossible for German soldiers residing in the United States to reacn Germany even on neutral ships, and he therefore urges German soldiers to return to their peaceful occupations until further notice. The official notice is as follows:
