PLANS FOR BUILDING

Decides to Call for New Sketches of Structure Proposed to Be Erected on Kafader Tract.

The necessity of having enough room to prepare for the possible expansion of the new public school, to be erected on the Kafader property, caused the board of school trustees Tuesday night to reject all plans for the building and issue a call for more sketches. Upon the recommendation of C. J- "Waits, superintendent of the city schools, and Herbert Briggs, superintendent of the non-academic work, the new plans will include a building of 28 rooms and a larger auditorium. Mr. Waits asked that plenty cf room be provided to take care of the growth of the school.

The board Tuesday night narrowed its choice of plans to the sketches submitted by Johnson & Miller and Rodney W. Leonard. The vote on the first ballot ended In a deadlock and the board then voted to ask for more sketches The re-advertising for bids will be done at once.

The bond of Albert E- Meyers, oon tractor for the building of the Albert Lange school t.nnex, was rejected by the board on acount of faulty wording and Mr. Meyers was asked to present a new bond.- During the discussion over the bond, the board accepted a motion to make the new school on the Kafader property fireproof and this was ordered inserted in the advertisement for new plans.

PLAN FOR BOAT RIDE.

Maple Avenue Epworth League to Take Second Trip Thursday. The second boat ride of the Maple Avenue Epworth league will ba jjiven Thursday night at 8 o'clock when the Reliance and Defiance will carry the members of the league and their friends up the river. A special program Iisb been arranged for the occasion and refreshments will be served on the boat. The Men's chorus of the church which recently gave a concert at the Iola tent during the Pythian encampment will sing during the evening. The public has been invited to attend the boat ride.

COMPLETE BOAT RIDE PLANS.

Fraternity Men to Take Dancing Trip Friday Night. All arrangements for the boat ride dance to be given Frdiay evening by the Alphi Pi chapter of the Beta Phi Sigma fraternity were reported completed at the meeting of the chapter Tuesday night. Richard G. Feldler, chairman of the committee on arrangements, announced that the boat Winner and barge Welcome will leafve the foot of Wabash avenue promptly at 8 o'clock. About fifty couples are expected to attend the boat ride.

Whole State Asked to Join Hove to Fight "White Plague" on October 2.

INDIANAPOLIS, July 29.—-Well, well, Just listen to this! Of course you have turned out In your best bib and tucker to see the circus parades and pageants put on by the Elks and qther fraternal orders. Too, you have no doubt gone to street fairs and the like, but say, did you ever walk down town to see a health parade.

Course not! The reason why is that there never have been any health parades for you to see.

But Indiana is rapidly taking a turn ble to herself and Just now she Is getting ready to show the rest of the nation, and the world, too, for that matter, a few things*

Anderson really started the whole business. On April 80th, the anti-tuberculosis society In that city conducted a "health day."

The affair was a whale of a success. Factories closed down, stores suspended business- In short, everybody turned out to make the thing a winner.

More than 4,000 school children took part clubs, commercial organisations and other civic bodies prepared floats each of which carried a health lesson. Newspapers In Chicago, Cincinnati and other large cities sent special writers to Anderson to get the "story." The movie men were there. The affair was pronounced the first of its kind ever given in the United States.

Then Princeton got, busy. Their demonstration dwelt largely on the necessity of combating the "white plague" in a systematic way, Princeton merchants gave hundreds of dollars for the decoration of floats.

Again the school children turned out in force. The event was proclaimed by representatives of EJvansvttle newspapers, who were present, as the biggest thing ever pulled oft In the "pocket."

All this set the state antl-tubercu-losis headquarters, 203 Public Savings building, Indianapolis, to buzzing-

Conferences were held with the state board of health with the result that Walter D. Thurber, executive secretary of the State Anti-Tuberculosis society, was dispatched to Governor Ralston's office with the request that official recognition be given the movement.

And thiB is the result. Every Indiana community will be asked by the governor to observe "disease prevention day," Friday, October 2nd.

Monster pageants will take plaoe in the larger cities and in smaller communities parades, lectures, picture shows and exh'Mts will be features of this great state holiday.

Think of it! An entire state uniting its more than 2,000,000 individuals In a state-wide demonstration directed at human unhappiness and distress. The event will be unique in the world's history.

Boy Is Arrested for Stealing Tooth Paste and Brushes. Robert Trueblood, who according1 to Probation Officer Stahl, has figured many times In petty thefts, was again arrested Tuesday night by Traffic Officer Cllne for stealing a quantity of tooth paste and brushes, which he was giving away on the street.

He denied having stolen the articles and said a boy by the name of Flovd Shepherd had given them to him. £he Shepherd boy was found but also denied having taken any of the articles. Both were taken to police headquarters and the Shepherd boy released and Trueblood sent to the Friendly Inn. He will be sent to the Boys' school as he Is now under suspended sentence from the Juvenile court for stealing a bicycle.

GRADUATES GIVE DANCE.

Wiley '14 Class Announces Subscription Dance Monday Night. Members of the 1914 class of Wiley high school will entertain their friends with a subscription dance at the Rod and Gun club Monday night for the purpose of raising money to clear the class debt. All of the friends of the class have been Invited, and the members of the party will leave on the 8 o'clock Paris car. A three piece orchestra will furnish music for the program of dances.

SUMMER SCHOOL NEARS CLOSE.

Friday Marks End of Term Declared to Be Success. Books will be discarded and a real vacation taken by nearly 1,000 students enrolled in the summer school of Terre Haute a week from Friday, when the term closes. According to C. J.
