NEWS OF STOCK MARKET.

NEW YORK, July 23.—Again taking its cue from London, where Americans were substantially lower, today's stock market manifested a heavier tendency in the early dealing. Virtually all issues were lower, but only Canadian Pacific and TLehlgh Valley were especially heavy, declining a point. Baltimore and Ohio fell to its recent low price and Chesapeake and Ohio and Reading appeared to be under pressure. Standard stocks were little changed. Among specialties Sears-Roebuck rose three points.

Resumption of gold exporZH was the most Interesting feature of the morning session, the shipment toUoving a 30poirst rise in exchange. Lehigh Valley was sold down a total of 2 points and further weakness was shown by New York Central* Chesapeake & Ohio, arid the speculative list in general. Baltimore & Ohio made a new low price, as also did Rock Island preferred, and the refunding and debenture and Missouri Pacific convertibles. Dealings were spasmodic, the only semblance of activity being on the decline. Bonds were easy.

Prices recovered in the later dealings, but soon fell back again, some to the lowest of the day. New Haven, which rose to 53, soon lost half its advantage. The closing was heavy.

CHICAGO BOARD OF TRADE.

CHICAGO, July 23.—Severe damage by black rust and by heat in the Oakotas and Minnesota brought about a fresh advance today In the wheat market here. The openihg, which was lc higher, was followed by supplementary gains, but with selling considerably enlarged on the bulge.

The close was nervous, %@%c to l%c net higher. Corn prices ran up quickly on account of continued not dry weather. After opening the same as last night to 1% ®1%C up the market hardened little more and then underwent a moderate reaction.

The close was unsettled, l%@2%c above last night. Oats sympathized with corn.

Lack of demand weakened provisions. A setback in the hog market seemed to make buyers hold off.
