The Chaistmas-tree trade has beguni Chiistmas day is le8s than a w^eek distant and the stores'are hustling to keep pace with the growing orders which are piling up on them as the time draws near dr.

Hundreds of small evergreens have been brought to Terre Haute in the last two or three weeks. Many of theni come from gro'ves within a short distance of this city while others are- shipped in ft jam points farther away.

The price for Christmas trees is from 10 per cent to 20 per cent higher than a year ago. Miss Nina Williams, a practical dem-, onstrntor for the Whiteley exerciser is in the city for a few days to give exhibitions before the public in L. D. Smith's display Window.

Miss Wilfiams a-rrived yesterday af-. tel-noon and ittiniedia-tely began her work. The window

cleared of the usual

display and she arranged her exercisers so as to show the movements of her body to the public. She liad: Weil in the window but a few ihinutes utitil a large crowd gathered outside of the building and watched evefy toove she inade. She gave exhibitions several times during the afternoon and evening and every time drew great crowds to the store.

She began her work last September and after remaining in Chicago for several Weeks started out on the toad. She has worked most bf the large cities of Illinois and1 is now traveling South. Her next stand will be at Evansville. She says she likes her work, as she has always been mdre or less of a hobyyist on ^hy^cftl traitving. Several yeais were spent in studying physical development work and then she taught. Hearing of a- Vacancy with the Whiteley company she applied for the plaite and jt Was given her. She sayS she is not tiriiid about appearing before Idrge crowds, although at first it seemed rather awkward to do the exercises in sh6W windows.

When she appeared before the public yesterday she wore a dark' red blouse waist with short skirt, blatfk stockfrfgs and gymnasium shoes. Tile waist was low in the neck, and hM no sleeves, iter carriage aiid bearing showed perfect physical development. Thg exercises are difficult and Varied But she id so vfell acquaihtfed with her work that she dbes every1 turn with grace and ability. Mis^ Williams expects to leave Terre Haut«" on, Sunday for Evansville.
