A vetry pretty wedding occurred Wed.neMay at the home of Mr. and Mrs. William Watts one-half .mile north of Ellsworth, when their daughter Yerna was urn ted in marriage to Mr. Fred Sharp. Ray. Maasa officiated. The bride was beautifully attired in white luster with trimmings of silk and ribbon. After the ceremony the guests were seated to an piquant supper. Those present were: Mr? and Mrs. Wm. Watts, Mr. and Mrs. YVyatt Watts, Mr. and Mrs. Taylor and family,' Mr. and Mrs. Jacob Orth, Mr. md Mrs. George Orerpeck, Rev. and Mrs \Ia*8a, Mrs. Watkins, Mr. and Mrs. Fred Ortli and daughter, Helen,, Miss Maude harp. Miss Kate Sharp, Miss Luella Watts, and Messrs. Edward Lucas, Har!ejf. Watkins and Charles Orth. Mr- and Mrs. Sharp will be at home to their friends after January 1st, at their new home on East Locust street.
The regular semi-monthly meeting of the Winona Reading Circle was held on Monday evening with MTS. Jessie S. Conni}t, 718 Ohio street. Mr. W. A. Keerna 'conducted the study of "Purita-n Revolution" during the personal government of Cftarles I, of England. The circle is well started on the sixth year of its history with constantly increasing interest and enthusiasm. The next sassion will be held with Mrs. W. A. Keerns, 1819 North Eighth street, on the first Monday night in ^January.
I'he T. A. Y. K. club gave a musicale at.^the home of Miss Minnie Dorley Wednesday evening. One of the features of'vihe evening being a contest. The prizes were awarded to Miss Hannah Mcintyre and Mr. Ronald Voelker. CatherintfrMugivan will be at home to the club Christmas afternoon from three to five.
The next dance of the Dirigo Dancing club will be held on December 26. The doj|ce will be in the Duemveg academy oi^Wabafh avenue.

Mrs. Carl Stahl and Mrs. Eugene V. Deba gave a card' party Thursday afternoon at the home of Mrs. Stahl on North Eighth street. Fourteen tables played, The west parlor was in Christinas decorations, the music room was in pink. The games were played in points. With the score cards were pink and white flowers, hyacinths and carnations. At 5 o'clock refreshments were passed. A feature of the afternoon was the delightful musical program before and after the games played by Mr. Stahl on his magnificent organ.
Mr. and Mrs. Robert Prescott will give a family dinner Christmas at their home on South Fifth street. Mrs. Prescott, Mis3 Sears and Mr. William Sears, of Cleveland, 0. will be among the guests.
Miss Thresa Novotney entertained informally Thursday evening at their home on South Sixth street in honor of their guest Miss Mayme McGinley of Sedalia, Mo. The prizes at card's were won by Dr. Leavitt and Miss Alice Hammerstein. A hot course luncheon was served in the dining room.
Mrs. W. R. Mail gave a children's party Thursday afternoon at her home on South Sixth street for her daughter Elizabeth, who was five years old and Kirby Ingolsby of St. Louis who is the guest of Mrs. Emil Froeb. Kindergarten games were played and at 5 o'clock a supper was served. The central ornament on the table was a birthday cake with five lighted tapers on it. At either end of the table were candelabra. The souvenirs were little paper boxes filled' with bonbons. The ice cream was moulded in the forms of flowers and little men and women which delighted the children. Martha Locke of Piqua. 0.. who is visiting his cousin Shannon Buntin was a guest.

Miss Letitia Parks, who has been in the city under the treatment of Dr. Herman Bernheimer left for her home in Crawfordsville Thursday. On Wednesday evening Miss Parks was entertained at dinner at the home of Mr. and Mrs. I. H. .C Royse on North Seventh street.-
Miss Emma Fisbeek entertained a number of her friends informally at her home Thursday evening. Refreshments were served.
The St. Mary's Circle met yesterday afternoon at St. Joseph's academy. -Seven tables played euchre and the prizes, a point lace kerchief and wedgewood plaque were won by Mrs. Peter Breinig and Miss Gertrude Theobald. The next meeting will be the third Thursday in January.

Charles L. Franks a professional fancy skater has been secured by the management of the Bronson rink, to give exhibitions from the 24th to the 27th inclusive. Mr. Franks will be one of the fanov skaters employed at the opening of the rink in the Colliseum, Chicago.

Responded to the Command of His Old Comrade After Thirty Years Separation.
LINCOLN, Neb., Dec. 19.—W. F. Vilas. cx-Unlted States senator and member of a president's cabinet and a soot-begTlnaed janitor at the Nebraska state capitol were the parties to a dramatic incident Wednesday. The former "Wisconsin senator came to Lincoln to argue a case before the Nebraska Supreme court. While Btanding in the office of the clerk of the Supreme court, and with his back to,the door, S. D. Eastman, one of the janitors, entered the room, startling the party by breaking out in resounding tone: "Captain William F. Vilas, Company A, Twen-ty-^irfl Wisconsin, fall in."
Mr. Vilas wheeled like a flash. The recognition was mutual and, the two men threw themselves Into each other's arms. Eastman was a member of Captain Vilas' company In the civil war. It was their first meeting in th-e thirty-eight years.
