New York StocV Market.

XKW YORK, Dec. 15.—The whole marUf't opened weak and lower under pressure of heavy liquidation. Selling of Foil them Pacific was fully as severe as lliat of any other stock, and it had a maximum decline of 1% in the first five minutes. B. R. T. sold off 2 per cent,

Pennsylvania 1% N. Y. C., St. Paul, f%orfolk and Steel preferred, 1% Copper lost P\'.or a point. Steel, common received support ot a Vz decline National Lead was quoted lri lower. Mo. Pacific lost 2%, but recovered on excellent support on the decline. D. and H. opened higher. 'Atchison lost 1%. T. I. R- 1% and Smeltr ifig 2J4. Aften ten minutes the market steadied, but with little or no tendency to rally.

a n-i.—The

selling pressure suffered

Conoid *rible abatement after the first half hour. The severity of some of the declines tempted short covering. Atchison gained over 1 per cent: St. Paul recovered a cent from the lowest and a liitc? rally was en.ioyed by Mo. Pac. In the ia^t seven minutes fresh selling has accompanied the high rate quoted for call rnoney. and fresh declines occurred in St. Paul Union Pacific, Atchison, Pennsylvania. New York Central, Southern Pacific, 'Missouri Pacific and the local traction is'feiifs.

Th? speculation as a consequence has rVrvoioped fresh feverishness and the liquidation is again in evidence.

Government bonds unchanged. fvocm—The second decline, which took place after the end of the first hour, although severe, seem?d to be on a smaller volume of liquidation than the opening fail, and it was apparently accompanied by an attempt to hammer the market without losing, stocks. A rally, therefor?, was comparatively easy and prices are holding their own.

Prices: Pennsylvania 151.. Ij. & N. llSii Union Pacific 95J4 St. Paul 168 Sugar ll91/2: Atchison 78% Amalgamated Copper Bi1/:, Southern Pacific 57%. Total sales to noon 4S3,600 shares. TO STOCKS ETAAlia.f CuwGFA A

The market has shown sustained strength and a constant tendency to advance since the middle of the second hour. The announcement of a money Tpool has aided the market greatly this afternoon. Put as soon as the rally Was established a scarcity of many standard stocks was discovered, particularly Reading and St. Paul.

Clo-o—The market continued strong during the last hour and closed without material recessions from the highest.
