Is one of the many varieties of that tor
menting disease called Eczema. It slumbers through the summer and breaks out in winter. The head, feet anjl hands are the parts most often attacked, though it sometimes appears on other parts of the body, the skin hardens, cracks open and bleeds, while the itching and burning is at times almost unbearable. Scratching only makes it worse, sores and scabs forming where the skin is broken.
In this form of Eczema brownish white crusts sometimes form which scale off

and inflamed. It is especially painful and severe when confined to the hands, which often become s0 badly affected that the sufferer is unable to perform the lightest works' This, like' all other types of Eczema, is due to acid poisons in the blood and not to local causes. The trouble is more than skin deep, and washes, soaps, powders and salves nor anything else applied to the surface can possihly do more than soothe the burning and itchin.g or relieve temporarily the inflammation and pain.
It is the acid? thrown off by the blood and which are forcing their way through the pores that cause the skin to harden, crack and bleed, and produce the irritation and soreness.
The dud in the
dark was a favorite with duelists. Two were locked in a dark room and crawled stealthily from corner to corner, until some false step made one of them the target for bullet or blade.
Life is a duel in the dark with
disease. One false step one mistake, and the attacli omes swift and sudden. The mistake wnich commonly opens the way for an attack by disease is neglect of the symptoms of stomach trouble. When eating is followed by undue fullness, belchings, sour or bitter risings, etc., disease is attacking the stomach.
The best way to frustrate such an attack is to use Dr. Pierce's Golden Medical Discovery. It cures diseases of the stomach and other organs of digestion and nutrition, and makes the body strong and healthy. «I was suffering very much with iny bead and stomach," writes Mrs. W. C. Gill, of Weldoti, Shelby Co., Ala., "head was so dizzy when I would raise up in bed would fall right back. Could eat but very little, in fact scarcely anything, there seeqted to be a heavy weight in my stomach so I could not rest I had to belch very often and would vomit up nearly everything I ate. .1 was iu a bad condition. I took four bottles of Dr. Pierce's Golden Medical Discovery and five of his •Favorite Prescription' and am now well and hearty. I feel like a new woman and give Dr. Pierce's medicines credit for it all. I had taken medicine from physicians without any benefit as I could see."

NEW BOWLING RECORD
ST. LOUIS TEAMS SMASH ALL SCORES LAST NIGHT.
REMARKABLE TEA,M WORK
Junior Bowling Club of St. Louis Sets a Mark Which WiM Likely Re Long Shot At.
The world's cocked-hat record was broken at St. Louis last night by the Juniors' team in. the game between the Acmes and Juniors, the latter making a total of 1505 pins out of a possible score of 2250. The record-breaking team is one of the best in the local bowling league. Their performance last night smashed the highest previous record by a large margin. The record of 1492 was tabbed up last season by the 1903s team, and when it was made the predictions were that it would be a long time before the mark was bettered. In fact, some were rash enough to say that the 1505 mark would not be reached for several years^ if at all.
The work which made the record last night was peculiar in the fact that not a single record was broken outside of the one for high five games. The closest that any other record was approached was the individual high five games average, and Hirsch fell over five pins behind the mark set by Eddie Grath last season in this respect. What told was the fine all-around work of the Individual averages were remarkably even throughout. The best single game rolled by the winning team was 315, and this falls short of the record. The team, however, topped the 300 markk in three games, and never fell more than twelve pins below that in a single exhibition. As an exhibition of team bowling the match was a superb one. The best game scored by the Juniors was the first, when the 315 mark was reached. Thomas roled up a 74 in that game and Hirsch followed with a 73. Dueker did 66 and Mathews 65, but Allen started poorly and totaled only 37, else the high game record might have suffered also. In the final game Thomas put in an 80 and Hirsch a 71, the team total being 310. An 84 by Hirsch in the third game also ran that one above the 300 mark, although only by a single pin. Tho other two games were 291 in the second and 2SS in the fourth.

NATIONAL LEAGUE MAY FIX DATES AT PfVE&ENT MEETING
WAR SCHEDULE IS PREDICTED
That Is Nation*! League Will Attempt to Fight American at Every Point,
This is one view of it, but another was that the National league was not inviting war, but simply adopting its schedule wlhout any thought of what the American would do. Manager McGraw of the New Yorks said he would certainly prefer to open the season at home, and the surmise was that New Yorw would open at home with Brooklyn, with Philadelphia at home with Boston, Pittsburg in Cincinnati and Chicago in St. Louis. Also the belief was expressed that there would be Fourth of July games in the Bast this year. Instead of those games being played entirely in the West, as has been the case the last three years.
Ned Hanlon of the rules committee said he knew of no proposed changes In the, rules to be considered. He says the foul strike rule has been a good thing for the game, and good for the spectators, and that it will be retained. That the executive committee will be retlaned and no president elected is now thought to be more likely than ever. Brush, for one, has expressed himself as in favor of having at the head of affairs those who have more than a sentimental interest.
Will Be Tried at Paoli.
Thomas Leonard, who was arrested here on instructions from the marshal at Paoli, where he is wanted on a charge of beating a board bill, will be taken to that town this evening. He will fight the case and will take an attorney from this city.
New Electric Company.

rs ~ot the National league began
assembling in New York today for their annual base ball meeting, which begins tomorrow at the Victoria hotel. Hermann of Cincinnati, Dreyfuss and Pulliam of Pittsburg, Hanlon and Ebbetts of Brooklyn, Hart of Chicago and Brush and Knowles of New York were all about the hotel today. The principal talk was that the league will be made a pronounced departure from previous customs and adopt a schedule at this meeting. Hitherto the schedule has been a matter for consideration and adoption at the spring gathering of the base ball season, and its adoption at this time means that the spring meeting will be done away with. The schedule committee consists of Dreyfus, Hart and Ebbetts, and they were in conference today on the arrangements of the dates, according to those who said they knew whatwas going on. "It will be a war schedule," said one of these. "That is, good dates will be assigned to the most profitable cities, something in the nature of a challenge to the American league, and it will then be up to the American league whether there will be conflicting dates."

Nothing Can Undermine It Terre Haute.
People are sometimes slow to recognize true merit and they cannot be blamed for so many in the past have been humbugged. The experience of hundreds of Terre Haute residents expressed publicly through newspapers and other sources places Doan's Kidney Pills on a firm foundation.
Mr. F. C. Brandenburg of South Eleventh street, near Idaho, blacksmith in business with his father says: "My kidneys were weak for four or five years and I sufferedi from dull pains across my back. In changeable weather or when ever I caught cold I always felt it more than at any other time. Mr. Morris, a neighbor of mine recommended Doan's Kidney Pills so highly to me that I bought a box at Baur's pharmacy, Seventh street and Wabash avenue. It benefited me so much that I bought a second. I t,ried other treatments before taking Doan's Kidney Pills, hut they benefited me more than anything else I ever used. Whenever I feel the least pain in my back, a few doses of this reliable preparation always relieves me ''"'C
